love the show.
I heartily disagree with the sexism in this post. It's ridiculous to assume that just because I have breasts and a vagina it means that I'm more sensitive than men. It depends on the individual, as Goldstein says, not on what gender I am.
I say that men in our society are not "allowed" to be sensitive for the very reasons you mentioned. Women, on the other hand, are "permitted" and even encouraged in some circles to express themselves. That said, sensitivity is about the individual. How they express it may not truly show you their level of sensitivity.
I also think women are amazing... but I have to say that I am a little biased. Anyways, I agree that women do express their sensitivity more than men, generally speaking. And I also agree that it is about the individual. I think it's a sad that men who show their sensitivity are looked down upon. There is definitely a double standard here.
In my experience, men are often more sensitive to things like criticism. I do agree that women are just better at expressing it.
I 100% believe its the person. But our society makes it easier for women to express their emotions, while almost looking down on men.
I believe that the way both men and women are perceived for expressing feelings is how they express them. Identifying and expressing feelings is and important tool for EVERYBODY. I disagree with Tara that men should get a pass on this. Feelings are what makes us human. They give us clues about what is going on in our life. We all must learn to identify them and express them. Only then can we understand our needs and have them met.
Telling men that they don't have to learn to identify and express their feelings is wrong. It makes you an enabler.
