One way to avoid fatigue during your eight-hour workday: get up and move your body! Thanks to the blog post "Outdoor Exercises You Can Do On Your Lunch Hour" written by PeopleJam member Apryl, host Bridget McManus talks about ways to make work more fun while getting in some much needed activity.
In this episode:
I enjoy that Montgomery has the same voice as Baby Bridget... Hmmm...
They put a phone in the rest room? What did they do about the room's sound affects?.....
"Oh yes we are on a field trip today at work! By a waterfall".
I love Bridget!
Oh, I love these tips!! I try to go outside every day during my lunch break, regardless of whether I'm working at home or in an office. It truly made me feel better to get out of the building!
Excellent advice. Most people never take all the time for their lunch break for eating so going out for a break and some exercise during that time is wonderful. Thanks for the wonderful tips. Did they really install a phone in the restroom? :)
I feel you on the crappy jobs :) I try and walk to work every day, and I'll try the dribbling thing. Great work!
Walking to lunch is the least we can do! It's an easy way to start, anyway. Good advice we should all take to heart.
I try to walk on my breaks and lunches every day. I go outside unless its below freezing or above 80 degrees. The fresh air and movement really invigorate me and make it easier to get through the day. Knowing I get some alone me time for just an hour total a day feels great. Plus, it has helped me to lose some weight too!
Great and awesome advice! I work at home and I'm on the computer all day. Taking that 20-25 minute walk around our large property does wonders for the soul. I could have a headache and feel super tired, but after walking I'm rejuvenated and feel great.
This topic doesn't apply too much to me since I work at home, but I have to admit, staying at home all day doesn't give me all that motivation to "move my little tush". This is one more reminder that I need to start moving around a little more. Maybe I won't really play basketball or football, but walking around will probably help me be more healthy. Thanks Bridget!
There is no way you could have gotten me to do anything resembling work or exercise during my lunch break. Although I can see the benefit is you have to sit all day.
I enjoyed the humor and the exercise/health tips. Funny and overall informative; Bridget delivers again.
Working out on your lunch is a great tip if you have a job where you sit around all day. I work in retail and lift boxes and run around on the sales floor, so working out on my lunch break would not be too fun.
These are great ideas! I wish I would have known these while at a previous job. I was stuck sitting at desk for hours and I would feel so horrible after work. Of course, during out breaks, we would continue to sit. These tips are so helpful, I really believe it would make a huge difference in a person's day.
This video was very informative I didnt know al the different kinds of exercises you could do at work that will help your feelings and motions. I am going to start trying these out.
:-) I already have friends doing the basketball and catch ball part in office. I used to laugh it off but next time i am going to participate.
Wow! That looks like a great blog!I have a desk job and I know I could really benefit from getting some ideas for what exercise I can do while at work! Thanks!
installing the phone in the restroom! okay, unsanitary and rude, what if you were taking a nasty poop and the person your calling heard you, well people always hang up but they wouldn't want to hang up more then when they heard that.
I thought that this was a good review of the blog for outdoor exercises you can do on your lunch break. I wonder if next time on Bridget's episodes, she can state what kind of follow-ups are available on the blog. For example, how do you fit in the eating you normally do for your lunch hour or what are tips to freshen up after your lunch exercises?
I totally agree with you , walk instead of drive if you can, it's healthy for you and good for the environnement!
Good video - can't believe putting the telephone in the restroom, though. Spot on advice for getting some exercise whenever you can. Any type of exercise is better than nothing!
another great thing to get more exercise while at work is ALWAYS TAKE THE STAIRS. This is something I have done no matter where I work, that offers an escalator or elevator. I may be to tired or weak to make the distance, but I get noticeable results from hiking those extra flights of stairs everyday. It helps. A little bit goes a long way:)
Great advice! This is especially useful if you live close to the office - you can just walk to work in the morning and back home in the evening. There's something about a nice walk that clears your mind. Or, if there is a park near your office, take advantage of it and walk the trails there. Great post!
