The Jam: Ep. 8: Healthy "Deceptive" Lunches

Eating healthy is hard, even for adults, so that's why Bridget McManus gives advice to parents who need help when it comes to packing healthful lunches and getting their kids to eat their veggies. With the help from the great blog post "Great Tips for Healthy Back to School Lunches" by PeopleJam member pearlofafrika, Bridget tells parents to say away from artificial flavors, MSG, and all processed foods. Bridget also discusses how to make everyday foods such as mashed potatoes, and sweets such as brownies: healthier and your kids won't even know it!

No spinach in brownies!! That is a sin!! LOL

But carrot chopped in pizza topping works very well with kids ;-)

I had some M&Ms for the first time since I was a kid today and they were good! So a little bit of chocolate must be ok as well?

Tofurky rocks! And that book you suggest sounds awesome! It would be good for kids and adults alike! I have a hard time getting my partner to eat her veggies, but this book may make it easier on her! Thanks!

I had really hoped this would be more informative. I voted no because she could have added more tips from the article or even offered an alternative to spinach in brownies, like peanut butter for protein.

This only gave two ideas: the cauliflower in the mashed potatoes and the spinach in the brownies. Actually, I like the first idea, but I had hoped it would be a lot more informative. The book "Deceptively Delicious" sounds like a good read, though.

I voted that I wouldn't recommend this video to others. She should have used her time more wisely and given more tips. None of what she said was very helpfull. Also I do not think that kids wouldn't catch on to the cauliflower in the mashed potatoes. Kids know when something tastes different. She should have talked more about making food "fun" such as, making a stick figure out of different vegetables. Adding some sort of dip is always fun for kids. If the book is anything like the video then I wouldn't recommend it either.
