Experience
I’ve had some pretty cool jobs, Radio DJ at a 50,000 Watt Rock station in Sacramento, Maitre D’ on the Sunset Strip and Screenwriter with assignments from Warner Brothers.
Most of my career has been spent in media companies and most of that in sales management. I’ve lead teams in television stations and Internet companies and been fortunate enough to really help shape some businesses through my role as a manager in the middle.
In 1998 I joined AOL to lead advertising sales in the West I stayed with the company for 7 years in a variety of management roles. I left in late 05 to play a more consultative role in emerging businesses. Since leaving AOL, I’ve been involved in Facebook, Napster, Break.com, StarStyle.com, Manta.com, TVGuide.com and Michael Eisner’s new digital content studio, Vuguru.
Through all of this there’s been one common theme. The Middle. It’s where I’ve spent my career and where I believe the greatest power in a company lies. In the years head the middle will become even more powerful. This great passion for the middle and harnessing the power of the middle manifested itself in a three year research project the led to the publishing of my book Ignited. Ignited: Managers! Light Up Your Company and Career for More Power, More Purpose and More Success recently debuted an quickly became an Amazon Bestseller. I’m spending a great deal of my time talking to Managers about how to take back their companies and careers while making a real difference. I love it!
Oh yeah…the school stuff.
I have an undergraduate degree from for the Annenberg School of Communications and the University of Southern California and an MBA from Pepperdine’s Graziadio School of Businesss.
In addition to Ignited, I’m a contributing author to the widely used Textbook, Media Selling by Iowa Press.
I live in Los Angeles where I enjoy Mountain Biking and Trail running.
