Born and raised in Dover, Pennsylvania, number five out of six kids, I loved art, animals and other people - especially other kids who needed help, it seemed. I held the hand of the girl with epilepsy while she had her seizures, befriended the really tall girl with the cleft palate, and fought for the one who couldn't take up for herself. I beat up the boy in 2nd grade who had a crush on me.
After graduating high school, I worked for the Federal Government in Washington, DC, and thought I would live there forever. However, Life intervened, bringing me my hubby of (now) many years and a move to where we live now, near Richmond, VA. Once here, I worked part-time and volunteered a lot---everything from the church to the State Police. (My current volunteer work is with artistic vision for elderly and Alzheimer's patients.) The year we moved here was my 3rd year in college, and I finished school at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond with a degree in psychology, in which I'd always had a strong interest.
I was always a singer and guitarist, beginning around age 13 and working with dance bands as a young adult, doing a bit of recording, and am still working with a band here in Richmond. I was an artist too, at a very young age, and that remains of high interest to me.
Out of all the varied things in my history, there developed this person now known as a life coach. I have no regrets in my life and only gratitude for any and all of those things that shaped me on my journey and guided me to become a coach. Last fall I graduated from CoachU's two-year coach training program, became a member of the ICF, and am currently awaiting my first ICF certification. I say that "I have coached all my life" and I believe that coaching expresses the deepest part of who I am. What I want for others is simply peace, a peace in their lives that is real and that comes from them being willing to look deeply inside and recognizing what is true for them. I have a strong work ethic that expects the best of other people, and I believe in and search for the beautiful light that I know each individual possesses.
So at this current place in my life's journey, I'm a dedicated coach, a wife, a dabbling artist, a singer, a gardener, a volunteer, an animal lover (my kids are 2 cats and 8 chickens), and I'm a believer that with truth and a willingness to see, we truly can find peace and meaning in our lives.
