About Me
Hi, I'm Seamus Anthony and seeing as this is a personal development thang, let me start with that: I am most well known (if at all) in personal development circles for Rebel Zen which I run with my business partner Steve Mills and for my guest posts at Pick the Brain and The Change Blog. I also occasionally write for LivingNow magazine, an Australian Holistic print mag and Steve and I run their website for them.
In other worlds, less about positive growth and more about art, music and well, beer ... people know me more for my music. You can check out my music here and buy it on CD or iTunes.
Incredibly Exciting Biographic Details
I was brought up by a colorful mixture of Free-Love Hippies and Born Again Fundamentalists - but somehow I survived intact.
Straight out of school, I cut my teeth rocking the town of Adelaide, South Australia during the nineties in cult band Reckoning. We did pretty good too, until the hammer came down.
By the time I was twenty-two I was one feral freak indeed, and was on the run from the law. Under cover of darkness, and wearing clothing inappropriate for the weather, I moved to Melbourne, Victoria (Australia) and turned to managing a health cafe whilst simultaneously struggling with a substance abuse challenge. At the time, the irony was completely lost on me.
I then developed a passion for psychedelic meditation which enabled me to get back on the good-foot, and I subsequently joined the band Quill. Quill did ok for a bit, but the heat was closing in, so I stowed away on a rusty freighter and went adventuring through Asia until I got stuck - cashless and dazed by the bright lights in Japan.
After doing solo gigs in Tokyo to pay my way home (and doing some more meditation), I cruised back to Melbourne, where I was welcomed home by a pyscho who beat the living shit out of me at Greasy Joe’s diner in St Kilda. Once my broken bones healed, I spent a few years playing in the front bars of Melbourne, honing his craft and always writing new songs.
On the side I have run a nightclub, made coffee in countless Melbourne cafes, had about twelve or thirteen articles professionally published, travelled to Europe, Melanesia and Asia, wrote a thriller novel, stuck that under my bed for safe keeping, taught meditation, and (reluctantly) worked in the corporate sector.
I now works from home running his business Rebel Zen Media, blog Rebel Zen, releasing cool ebooks like Psychedelic Meditation and Curly's Law, and teaching my baby girl to clap along to Bob Dylan.

The Self Aware Silly Season
Friday, November 14, 2008 - 04:36By Séamus Anthony Okay … I’d better own up. After another super fun, not-exactly-self-disciplined evening, I am this morning, feeling pretty gosh-darn shabby. What can I say? Such fun friends! Thankfully, these days I have learned not to beat myself up too much about my own nefarious behaviour and have plenty of knowledge about the ways in which to counteract the battering we tend to give ourselves during the Silly Season that is upon us.26 Comments
