Experience
Our road to fulfillment is rarely a straight path. By age 39, while I had achieved professional success as an editor in the publishing world, and later as a TV producer in Hollywood, my personal life was sadly off track. It looked glamorous on the surface, but like a movie it relied on make-believe.
I had been dating an exciting, romantic, but totally commitment-phobic man. One balmy Sunday evening, he and I stopped to eat at a bustling country diner and suddenly I looked around and all I saw were children and couples and families sharing each others’ lives. A wave of melancholy hit me: These people were connected in a way that I wasn’t.
That moment of clarity led me to transform my life. I broke up with my “nowhere” man, forced myself to venture out of my comfort zone, changed many of my habits and routines, began dating with a purpose and a plan, and not too long afterward met and married my husband, Charlie.
My personal life odyssey inspired me to share with others what I had learned for myself and I began coaching singles on how to maximize their opportunities for lasting connections. My coaching business blossomed.
Eventually, I earned a graduate degree in Clinical Psychology and a license in Marriage and Family Therapy so that I would have even sharper tools for helping my clientele. Soon I was advising not only singles looking for enduring love but also people wanting more satisfying relationships with their bosses, co-workers, siblings – even mothers!
My book, “How to Get Married After 35: A User’s Guide to Getting to the Altar” (HarperCollins Publishers) is now in its second edition; I do public speaking on relationship topics; and I have been a guest expert on numerous national and local television shows including ABC’s “GOOD MORNING AMERICA,” “The Jane Pauley Show,” Fox News, and more than 80 drive-time talk-radio programs.
For me, relationship coaching is a calling. Whether you seek a new relationship or wish to enhance one you already have, I will chart with you an individualized game plan tailored to the individual in you. My outlook is collaborative, creative, and compassionate, based on first-hand knowledge that change can be unsettling and that lasting results are best achieved when we experience subtle shifts in our thinking and behavior.
I spent so many years pursuing the dreams of others; now the dreams of others are also my own. I invite you to take the first step toward greater personal fulfillment! You can reach me at LanieRos1@aol.com or by calling 310-226-6161. It would be a privilege to serve your coaching needs.
