About Me

I was born in South Korea, moved to the States at age 5 and lived in Chicago, IL. most of my life before moving to sunny California, where I now reside. Believe me, there was culture shock and I still find that an irony, considering it's still the same country. Yet, despite the all of the clichés and stereotypes about California, what people don't realize is how open the people here are to exploring new avenues for self-improvement. Yes, there are the fad types, and there always will be. But regardless of the disingenuousness of the few plastic apples in the barrel, there is still great value in having created an environment that is open to and nurturing of self-exploration and the navigation of the journeys that ensue. The weather doesn't hurt either. ;)

Nothing stirs me up and gets my juices flowing more than being in a room full of people with differing opinions, similar opinions, just opinions in general. That tells me you are thinking, caring, passionate, still somewhat unblemished by the apathy that plagues our industrialized society. Do you ever feel numb? Do you ever sense an absence of feeling, which you can't really describe as good or bad, just an inability to feel passion about anything one way or another. Your day wasn't good or bad, but just "same old, same old?" I find that this is one of the most difficult challenges that we face in society today. This is different from battling with a visible enemy, not getting along with your spouse, or even battling cancer. How do you fight an adversary whose very nature is absence, vacuousness, non-existence? These are the questions that I hope Peoplejam can answer, or at least define for us in some meaningful way. Perhaps by surrounding ourselves with by people who choose to share their thoughts, their will, their inquisitiveness about the human condition as it strikes them in some moment of inspiration, we can avail ourselves to a constant source of inspiration within that community. Everything I have ever accomplished in my life started with one small step. I think the first step to solving our life's problems is having the curiosity about one's true self and holding that microscope of introspection as steady as you can upon yourself. Only then can you take comfort in the fact that everyone else around you isn't so different, and is going through the same things you are, and it's going to be ok.
