About Me
The old saying ‘Curiosity killed the cat’ made me very thankful I was born with two legs instead of four, and without a tail! It seems I’ve always questioned or challenged the status quo, and whilst that has manifested through different forms of inquisitiveness, mischievousness, rebelliousness, and even persistence over the years, finding coaching has enabled me to channel my energy and intuition in a more harmonious way.
I have always loved reading – and would definitely have been described as a ‘bookworm’ rather than a ‘couch potato’ during my youth despite the latter being seen as more cool. It is the seemingly endless invitation of creativity, experience and stimulation that are promised by books regardless of their genre that still make it dangerous to my credit card if I walk into a bookstore!
My life has changed dramatically over the last six months, let alone the last year or even decade, and by starting to align the elements that I’ve always felt drawn to (connecting with people, continuous growth, reading/writing, courage and gratefulness) I’m both excited and a touch scared by what is out there when you remove the self-imposed or ‘accepted’ boundaries.
Hailing from the land down-under (Australia is an amazing place), I’ve transitioned from A-grade student, to IT Consultant, to Project and Product Manager, to Lifecoach and citizen of London – the latter of which always draws the question ‘Are you mad?! Why would you choose the UK over Oz?’ Yet it’s the personal experiences and learnings I’ve drawn from those and many other transitions that I feel are the valuable gifts I’ve received.
Things I am interested in include exploring our Mind-Body connection, ethics, how each of us makes sense of our world, why we hold ourselves back, and achieving connection through writing. Lifecoaching feels more like a way of life and life-affirming process to me, than ‘just’ a career and combining it with my entrepreneurial energies is the direction I’m heading in. Embracing the approach of my L3 Philosophy (Live, Love, Learn), helps continuously remind me about what is important and what I want in/of/from my life – and I look forward to sharing this part of my journey with each of you!
Some random facts of personal import: I have two Tonkinese kitties who are teaching me the meaning of unconditional love; I believe age is over-emphasised; To me, accepting praise (and learning to reward yourself) are as important as being open to constructive criticism; I once made the mistake of assuming spirituality and religion were synonymous; Through Pilates, determination and attitude I have overcome many of the crippling effects of a permanent back injury; Seraphima is actually my name (Samantha) in Russian!
