In How Come That Idiot’s Rich and I’m Not? bestselling author Robert Shemin reveals for the first time the inner-circle secrets of the mega-wealthy. Have you ever wondered why some people attract wealth while others stay financially trapped and in debt? The key is wealth-friendly, upside-down thinking. Stick with all the old moneymaking rules and stay broke. Break them and get rich. This is the book that shows you how.
We’ve all read about the college kid who made millions on a brainstorm, or the couple who made a fortune in real estate, or the guy in his thirties who waved good-bye to his boss and now lives on his investments. But until now, how they did it—the rules they followed or flouted, the tricks they stumbled on—have remained a mystery.
That’s about to change. Whether you’ve been trying to get rich but haven’t quite made it yet, or just need the confidence to dream big, this is the book for you. As experienced as Shemin is at showing high-net-worth individuals how to get richer, his real love is helping self-described “financial disasters” earn millions. And he uses his own odds-defying story to illustrate the outside-the-box thinking that gets the job done.
I am a real big believer in the idea that you don't have to go to college to make a lot of money. Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Hello! Neither graduated from college but this book points out why you don't have to. Its in your genetic fiber. Some people just have this undeniable urge in them that manifests itself in ideas, managerial skills, and the whole gamut of what makes people successful. This coming from someone who has two college degrees. I do believe that it HELPS to go to college! I would have given him 5 stars if he addressed this in the book. For the average person, a college degree is a nice thing to flash in front of employers even in 2008. I like what he unearths in this book, just don't show it to many high schoolers!
Finally, someone gets it! I bought this book simply, completely and totally because of the title. How many times have I asked myself this very same question? Only to be faced with silence as the answer.
Shermin’s charismatic and tenacious approach to life reflects completely in his writing. He touches on the self-defeating prophecies that we are all guilty of, but instead of clubbing us over the head as to the why, he provides solid and life changing strategies to pull yourself out of your slump.
As opposed to the traditional school of thought on how successful people all go to college, Shermin caters to those that didn’t have the money or the opportunity toward higher education. His principals reflect those of being successful with just your high school diploma. Even though I have a college education, I can appreciate the tenacity and the hard work that Shermin promotes. It’s not a “get rich quick book” it’s a get rich, stay rich and quit asking the same question.
Did your high school teachers think you where an idiot? I know that mine did. I'm sure that they thought I would never amount to nothing. Oh how wrong some teachers can be, and how cruel father time can be to their premature assessments. Countless people that never shined scholastically have financially left behind their academic peers in later life, and Robert Shemin is a great example of that. This self made millionaire has turned every rule upside down and blazed his own path to success.
Shemin's book, How come that idiot's rich and I'm not? is great book that shows you how to excel in all areas of life without having to lose the reality of yourself. Through his words, an energy shift occurs to the reader which causes a shift in thinking. Millionaire thinking. This book not only guides you through real estate, stocks and business investing but will also show you why debt reduction is so important and just how easy it is to achieve. It's one of the best books I've read this year and i recommend it to all who are financially motivated.
