Every life is a book of secrets, ready to be opened. The secret of perfect love is found there, along with the secrets of healing, compassion, faith, and the most elusive one of all: who we really are. We are still mysteries to ourselves, despite the proximity of these answers, and what we most long to know remains lodged deep inside.
We all want to know how to find a soul mate, what career would be most fulfilling, how to live a life with meaning, and how to teach our children well. We are looking for a personal breakthrough, a turning point, a revelation that brings with it new meaning. The Book of Secrets--a crystalline distillation of insights and wisdom accumulated over the lifetime of one of the great spiritual thinkers of our time--provides an exquisite new tool for achieving just that.
Because answers to the questions at the center of life are counterintuitive, they are often hidden from view, sequestered from our everyday gaze. In his ongoing quest to elevate our experience, bestselling author Deepak Chopra has isolated fifteen secrets that drive the narrative of this inspiring book--and of our lives. From "The World Is in You" and "What You Seek, You Already Are" to "Evil Is Not Your Enemy" and "You Are Truly Free When You Are Not a Person," The Book of Secrets is rich with insights, a priceless treasure that can transport us beyond change to transformation, and from there to a sacred place where we can savor the nectar of enlightenment.
There is one thing to be said of Deepak Chopra. The man obviously knows how to write, or he probably has a hell of a ghostwriter working for him. I have probably read all his books only once, but every time it was like reading a thriller with a climax you can not guess. In the 'Book of Secrets', Deepak makes you travel through a multi-dimension world which you can make your own by the power of self. Higher Brain, is what Deepak calls today's age. Not IT, not Knowledge, but Higher Brain, and indeed by the time you are done reading the book you believe in it. Alas, the book still does not have that special ingredient which will make me read it a second time. Try it though, it may be just that extra push you need to go over the edge and start believing in your self.
"..The pearl, essence, the breath of God, the water of life, etc." Call it what you will, Deepak Chopra says that it is our deepest hunger and he gives us fifteen secrets to unlocking that hidden part of ourselves, which leads to a confrontation with our shadow self and thus, to radical transformation.
Not too long ago, it seemed that my life had been reduced to a steady series of unfortunate events. Doors kept closing and yet each setback hinted at opportunities for greater awareness and peace.
The Book of Secrets appeared during the peak of my self-reflection. I confronted my shadow and determined that I was going to face all her fears and doubt head on! Deepak Chopra refers to this as transcending the "personal" and moving into the "universal." He offers fifteen secrets that illuminate upon the deeper reality of life "and every secret goes back to the existence of an invisible intelligence that operates beneath the visible surface of life."
This book was a wonderful reminder that suffering is more of an indicator of something more serene and lasting rather than merely a fluctuating state of being.
