This book is a bit inspirational and a bit of a snoozefest. There are parts of it that got me excited and parts that I would have to read over again and again. One of the things that one must keep in mind with this book is that it was written over a century ago and there are a few signs of this. My problem wasn't the language, I find the older language rather quaint. My problem was the references and the metaphors, it would take me a minute to catch up to what he was saying a few times because I would have to wrap my head around the ancient analogies. That part is kind of charming in places too though, really. Having said that, this book is an excellent resource for the Law of Attraction and a general sense of confidence in one's own mental abilities. It wasn't life changing for me by any means, but I could see how it would be for others.

After reading various law of attraction books, I knew I had to read the book that started it all. The Science of Getting Rich was written back in the 1900s, and is the book The Secret is based on. Mr. Wattles covers it all from visualization to being grateful. It is a very short book, but I did find the reading difficult at times. I did appreciate the fact that he does mention that instead of focusing on drawing money to yourself that you should focus on everyone having money. He felt if the world was free of poverty, money could be drawn toward everyone. Another theory I particularly liked was that instead of dwelling on being in a bad job situation, one should work hard at the one they are in, as they are visualizing being in their dream job. It is a definitely well worth reading if you are interesting on learning how the law of attraction all started. He truly believes there is enough money in the world for everyone to be rich, if the have the right mindset.
