Ok, so my doctor recommended I read this book due to the fact I have a strong family history of diabetes and heart disease. She said I should be vegan as much as possible. Some of the recipes in here are good, but it seems that almost all of them are soy-based. I got totally sick of it after about a week of trying to eat these things. Not to mention I got really hungry from trying to eat just fruit for breakfast. My body needs protein or it just won't work for me. The recipes I tried aren't too bad for the most part and I especially liked the tofu brownies. However, unless you want to eat soy for every meal all the time, I don't really recommend this.
I have only just recently heard about this book. I had no idea what it was like until I read your review. LOL, I had no idea it was a Vegan book. How funny. I don't know if it's a great recommendation for the Vegan diet if you become a skinny bitch when you start that diet! Now I know I won't get this book - thanks for the tip!
I totally agree that this isn't a great introduction to a vegan diet. It's almost like a sort of 'junk food for vegans' rather than explaining how to live healthily if you're omni. You're right to point out that you won't necessarily have a complete & balanced diet with this book.
