New York Times Bestseller! As featured on "Oprah" and "Donahue!" Over 3 Million copies sold worldwide! Louise L. Hay, bestselling author, is an internationally known leader in the self-help field. Her key message is: "If we are willing to do the mental work, almost anything can be healed." The author has a great deal of experience and firsthand information to share about healing, including how she cured herself after being diagnosed with cancer.
YOU CAN HEAL YOUR LIFE is a somewhat frustrating book. I found it difficult to get through the first time I read it, because I wasn’t prepared to start viewing the situations I was in – the depression and anxiety and anger that I faced – as being my fault. I still wanted to blame my parents and those around me.
The truth is, it was partially due to them. The way that I was being treated and taken advantage of in no way falls under the heading of a “healthy relationship”. But the way I was viewing things was, indeed, my fault.
Instead of focusing on how I was depressed because my parents were abusive and anxious because people were judging me and angry because of both things, YOU CAN HEAL YOUR LIFE taught me to stop focusing on what other people thought about me, and only focus on how I thought about myself.
This is one of those self-improvement books that isn’t content with just telling you that you have to believe in yourself. It teaches you how to believe in yourself, how to find your self-worth. Because of that, it has earned a special place on my bookcase, and I recommend it to all of my friends. YOU CAN HEAL YOUR LIFE is an excellent book.
Hi friends, "where there is a will there is a way" is the concept most suitable for the subject of self healing. I read many books on the subject of self healing which were written by different authors by combining their writing skill, imagination and using some reference books and some of those books are well written. But here is a book "you can heal your life " written by Louise L. Hay on self healing techniques which she applied for herself and got rid of cancer disease. When I was reading this book I felt her sincerity and concern for those people who suffer from killer disease. Though practicing those affirmations mentioned in this book and tasting success is not an easy job, with a determined mind one can win any race including self healing. I believe this book should be a great help to those persons who are mentally weak and unable to explore their hidden potential.I think this book is a best combination of live example and writer skill. My learning from this book is "positive thinking results in positive output"
I don't care what this book cost. It is worth it, and much more.
Louise Hay has endured some of the most terrible things that can happen to a woman, and not only survived it, but thrived in spite of it. The founder of Hay House, Inc. weaves lessons from her tragic past into this gifted work, sharing with us many ways of dealing with the demons of heartache that weigh us down.
In every chapter of this beautifully designed book, we are presented with a life lesson, given examples of how it has worked in the past, and exercises to make it work for us.
Her affirmations are 100% positive, life giving, and hopeful. If you buy only one self-help book, or if you are only buying one more self-help book, by all means let it be this one. You won't regret one minute of it.
I have really enjoyed this book. I find it intriguing that the way we act and the way we handle stress has such a lasting effect on our psyche and our physical body. I found this book to be beautiful in the fact that it gave me hope. After having read it, I passed certain passages on to those who I knew could greatly benefit from the message it held.
The one thing I have learned is that you can only heal your life if you WANT your life to be healed. I found that most of the people I reached out to and passed parts on to, were disbelievers and would rather take a pill to fix the problem than to have any sort of self reflection.
So, if you able to be honest with yourself and you're able to have faith, this book is a beautiful read.
When I first read Louise Hay’s “You Can Heal Your Life,” I was upset. Right at the beginning of the book, she told me that everything in my life, including my choice of parents, was my doing. This wasn’t what I wanted to hear. But as I continued reading the book, I was convinced that here was a powerful, dynamic lady who knew what she was talking about. And toward the end of the book, I really admired Louise Hay as a great lady who had actually lived her simply philosophy of life. In fact, she had used it to cure herself of cancer!
I must say that putting her principles to practice was the best thing I ever did in my life. A few months after reading this empowering book, I could get rid of my problems of anxiety and depression. I found myself totally in control. This book really transformed my life.
Learning to embrace the higher functions of the mind and cure your body, is the main driving force behind Hay's book. Her book leaves me with two impressions.
First, I think the author steps out of bounds when she proclaims every illness is created in the mind and can be healed with your mind. My sister died from Leukemia, a physical illness. I doubt changing one's mind halts the death steps of Leukemia.
The “returning to your past to heal the present” psychology used in this book, fills my mind with ghosts. I prefer the psychology of “sticking to the present and moving forward.”
My favorite part of the book, pops up in a nice little index, that I refer to as my “cheat sheet.”
In this section, I look up my malady, find the thought that created the illness and practice the affirmation. The associative mind concept fascinates me.
Despite my issues with this book, I recommend it.
I used the affirmations for abdominal cramps, which, according to Hay, indicates fear. My cramps stayed, but I appreciated the diversion while repeating the affirmation.
This book remains in my personal collection.
This is the first book I bought by louise hay. I was wandering through a bookstore one day and it just looked like it might be good. It wasn't good, it was excellent!!! She has a way of making you look at things in a different perspective. She is all about positive affirmations. And she would say if you just said positive affirmations don't work, you just made an affirmation. She does have many more books out there. My favorite of hers is "I Can do it". But back to this book. It goes over all the illnesses in your body and how illness can be caused and cured with thinking. If you have an illness your negative emotions could be bringing it on. She gives you affirmations for the specific illnesses. I am not sure whether I buy into the whole thing. Yet it is very positive. I haven't found a book of hers I didn't like yet. She is inspiring. She helps you learn to love yourself. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I have heard she had a horrible abusive past. She learned how to love and believe in herself. She passes this knowledge on in her books. I never knew how to make affirmations until I read her books. Read just one book of hers and you will be hooked. It is such a powerfully positive experience. I wouldn't say I am completely healed but she has been a step up the ladder of health, mentally, for me.
This book is a God send to me. I was one those perfectionist personalities, I was never happy with myself. I was always berating myself, for not being pretty enough, not having a perfect body, not being a perfect wife, a perfect daughter.....you name it, so much so that because of my obsession to be perfect, I suspect I made people uncomfortable to be around me.
This book is written so gently by Louis Hay, makes you feel you are having a conversation with your very beloved friend. The whole idea of the book is to stop talking to yourself negatively and start loving yourself. What it did to me, was it forced me to examine my thoughts. I realised that the way I talked to myself, I probably wouldn't talk like that to a convicted felon !
Slowly I have started reinforcing myself with positive thoughts, it sounded surreal to me first and even very fake. But the remarkable thing is, now I'm so gentle with myself, I commend myself for everything I do right, and for everything I fail at, I tell my self I'll do better. I don't call myself names.
This has made me a very calm person, I smile more, I am so relaxed. My husband loves to talk to me now, its surprising that he would rather talk to me now than watch tv ! that itself is a miracle.
For those of you who think this is a book will teach you to manifest a shiny car...well maybe it will, I don't know. I just know that for the first time I am so comfortable in my skin, that I smile in my sleep ( hubby says so!)....that to me is beyond any material stuff I get.
This is my favorite book! I keep it on my coffee table so I can review it from time to time. I have recommended it to many women. Louise teaches you to forgive everyone and everything that has hurt you from your past. She also teaches you to look at yourself in the mirror every single day and tell yourself how beautiful you are, and that you love yourself. She feels most women must feel worthy of themselves before they can feel worthy toward others. There are so many excellent exercises in this book that she has you stop and do that are truly amazing. They help you let go of the past. There are wonderful affirmations at the end of each paragraph relating to the chapter to help you keep in sync with the changes you will be making in your life. At the end is an entire section on physical ailments, and affirmations you can say to heal yourself.
As Louise teaches she includes stories of her life, and how these affirmations and changes worked in her life. It is a truly aremarkable story and book.
