One of the most important things they teach you when you’re in recovery (for anything, pretty much: drugs, alcohol, eating disorders, etc) is that in order to be successful you MUST realize that your addiction has rendered you powerless. That in order to go on with your life, you have to deal with your emotions in a healthy way, and that is the basic principle of this book. It’s a “daily devotion” type of book, but I found myself taking it around with me in my purse and reading it when I felt moments of weakness or anger. It’s a wonderful source of inspiration for anyone going through long-term recovery from any kind of addiction or illness. Also it’s a great thing for family members and friends of a loved one who are having a hard time understanding the healing process.
My only complaint with this book is that it starts off with the New Year; I read it all year long and don’t really follow day-by-day, but that may not bother anyone else.
