I kept hearing buzz about this book for some time and eventually felt like I was the only person in the world who had not read it. Oprah loved it and that should be enough of an endorsement, right?
Apparently, I must be the only person in the world who strongly disliked the book. Okay, I confess. I actually hated it.
I had to force myself to read more than 10 pages. I swear that Eckhart Tolle managed to re-write the exact same thing over and over in different words during the course of the book. Perhaps I am not enlightened enough or perhaps I do not "get it". It took me nearly a week to finish reading Tolle's droning dribble. Unfortunately I was not a changed person afterward. I felt like I had wasted a week of my life.
I would only recommend this book to my worst enemy. I sold my copy to the used bookstore.
