This is a good book for people embarking on a course of treatment for anxiety and/or panic. It explains how our thoughts channel into emotions, and helps people to be more aware of their thoughts, and how their thoughts lead to anxiety and panic. The book also has some good information on relaxation. I have, however, seen this same information in so many books that it appears to be regurgitating the same information that has already been available for quite some time. For me, this book was a waste of time, because I've already read the same information in many different places, and Burns does not add anything different or new to the equation. But if a beginner is looking to learn about coping with anxiety and panic, this is a good place to start. You may not be able to stop taking medication, but the techniques and information in this book may be able to help you control panic that occurs while on medication.
I agree that it is a book for beginners that have never looked into the natural approach to dealing with anxiety. I also agree that you probably will not come away from this book and be immediately off your medications, if you take them. Good points.
