My favorite part of this book was the section on hiring. When you're a leader, you're only as good as your people and this book really points to that. Let me just say, "hiring drivers" is one of the biggest things that have helped me. Hiring people who want to work, want to do their best, and want to develop careers. These are drivers. These are the people who don't sit back and wait for you to come to them, but come to you and really try to make a difference in the company. After I read that, I stopped looking at resumes and started looking at the employee. What has proven that they are a driver in the past? It never has failed so far, even with people who don't have the education to back them up, if they are drivers, I'll hire them every time. GREAT book.
I think this book is a great manual to help people develop and perfect their management techniques. The best thing about this book is that it is not more of the same. The book features new management techniques that could be applied to many different fields and industries. In fact, I feel like my people skills are sharper than ever and the techniques featured in this book are the reason why.
My one complaint about this book is the price. This is a very expensive book. Do not get me wrong, this book was extremely helpful, informative and even humorous at times. But the price is ridiculous and I would not have paid this for a book was it not so highly recommended by a colleague.
If you are looking to improve your managemnet skills on many levels, this is the book that can help you get to where you want to be!
