Broadcast journalist Maria Shriver reveals the lessons that have guided her journey as a career woman, wife, and mother. Expanded from her highly praised commencement address and best-selling book, this Little Book offers wise and wonderful advice.
Not long after graduating college, my grandmother gave me this book as a present. I had just entered the work world and happened to be in radio, so she thought it seemed fitting. While this book didn't change my life, it did give me a few insights. I was reminded that the world changes rapidly and it makes sense to be ready to adapt. I learned that everything you do has consequences. I learned that you must follow your passion and that you are never too good for a job. Funny thing, she writes about marriage being a lot of work and I never truly understood it until I said "I Do" myself! Here is the thing. All the advice you find in this book is the same as what you have heard all growing up, but here you see these lessons applied in real-life situations. Shriver's insights give you a perspective that many of those lessons had been missing. I do find myself going back to this book on occasion and therefore I think it is a great addition to any bookshelf.
