The Specific Carbohydrate Diet is based on the book “Breaking the Vicious Cycle”. It’s grain-free, lactose-free, and sugar-free. It’s definitely not a low-carb diet. You can eat meats, vegetables, fruits, cheese, homemade yogurt, bake with nut flours or butter but nothing processed. It was written for people with Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Celiac Disease. If you don’t cook, it can seem overwhelming at first. It’s a great, real diet. Homemade yogurt is a big part of the diet which is totally medicinal for me. I started this in December 2005 and noticed an improvement within a few days. I was underweight and the medicine I was taking was just making things worse. By May 2006, I was back to my regular weight and feeling better than I have since being diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 2002. I’m currently med-free.

I tried this a while back... I also have crohn's disease. It just didn't seem to work for me though. Crohn's is a disease that is so different for every individual it seems, and there are so many different types and severities of crohn's... if this works for people, that's awesome. It didn't really work for me though.
