While reading some of the reviews posted here, I ask my self, how is it possible none of these people mention some example with negative connotation? Practically it’s impossible to achieve success all of the time as leader. But, I have to agree with the majority here, that this collection of experiences and suggestions, put well together by Mark Victor Hansen is very helpful. At least you can be relieved of the stress by learning only from your own mistakes. As a part of a military organization, where most of the leaders are also followers, I am somehow forced to consult opinions from experts. I find the part with the self-improvement and building the self confidence more useful, with more consistent effect. On the other hand, not always the methods for inspiring the subordinates are productive as expected. The enthusiasm of the personnel can lasts for a short term, no matter how fluent speaker you are, or how motivational the speech is. Earning the trust of the employees is more essential then just throwing words, but it takes a lot of time. Anyway it’s good to release the pressure from your chest, by communicating with friends. Thanks.

Recently I was asked to take on more leadership and responsibility at work. Eeeek! I've always been a follower and felt overwhelmed and insecure. So I started grabbing some books on the topic, including this one. I've heard of one of the authors, Mark Victor Hansen, as a motivational speaker. It stresses self-motivation and says that everyone has the potential inside them to be a great leader. So I kept reading and there are some great tips, encouraging confidence builders and lots of motivation. (surprise!) It does have more a spiritual feel to it, rather than more practical tho which is why I'm not recommending this book .. unless you get inspired by that sort of thing. I don't think it really gave tips to become a good LEADER, more just about motivating yourself. Which is great, I guess, but not what I had hoped.

The main take away from this book is to enjoy, love and KNOW what you're doing as far as leadership goes. The inspiring part takes care of itself when you are real and authentically "into" your business and care for the people who work for you. You don't have to pay them extremely well, but the passion you have as a manager comes out through their accomplishments. Fun to read and you get inspired to be a better manager when you're done reading. I got this because a friend recommended it as a quick reference to keep me excited about my job. By being a good manager, your motivation speaks through your employees by their productivity, great simple steps to do so in this book. bravo!

I haven't finished reading Mark Hansen's "Master Motivator: Secrets of Inspiring Leadership" yet, but feel I can confidently recommend the book based upon what I've learned from the first few chapters.

Hansen is great at giving useful anecdotes to drive home his points. Examples of real people's experiences are always a great learning tool for me, and I appreciate the chance to have more inspirational stories to use when I am planning a motivational seminar.

I like Mark Victor Hansen's tone of writing, and his even keeled approach to leadership. There are no easy answers to leading people, and Hansen understands that when he writes, "Real motivation is impossible unless the person is steadily and constantly reaching for goals that require stretch and effort."

I will be able to apply many of the principals in "Master Motivator" to my job and life. I recommend this book to anyone who is honing leadership skills, or just looking for a good read.
