Welcome to The Dance, the wise and practical book that expands on Oriah Mountain Dreamer's new moving prose poem. In this compelling book the acclaimed author of The Invitation challenges readers to live with passion, energy, and honesty. The key, says Oriah, is to savor the everyday world of family, friends, love, and work with clear minds and open hearts. When we are physically and emotionally stressed and our spirits are depleted, we must realize that happiness has not vanished but is buried beneath the clutter of our harried lives. With rare courage and honesty, Oriah unveils the challenge of her inspiring poem through compelling stories from her own experience, offering us tools to become fully the person we already are -- not ways to change.
This book was actually given to my daughter, who is a competitive dancer, as a gift. She is a bit too young to understand the beauty and wisdom behind this book, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! This is a beautiful book that uses dance to relate the author's ideas about the journey of realizing who you really are. The poem is beautiful, the words flow and are quite inspirational. In my opinion, this book is art and Oriah has created a new, innovative way to look at life. If you can keep an open mind while reading the poem, you will definitely gain a new perspective on living and loving yourself. I think this is a beautiful book that would make an amazing and thoughtful gift for that person in your life who seems to have everything. This type of book is what makes me love reading!
Despite the fact that this book is aimed at women, my wife STILL got it for me because I love dancing! I'm a dance fiend. I will dance around the house, dance in my car, just everywhere. And this book, using dance as their gimmick, helps you realize that you are a truely unique human and that you have very unique offerings. I really liked the fact that they talked about religion as more than just something you go to on Sunday mornings. I think a lot of these sorts of books dismiss the role of religion in many people's lives. I am happy to read books on the contrary. SO despite the fact that I had a book cover over this books cover, I did enjoy it, and I am still dancing and still loving life like only I know how.
