Closet Control by Barbra Horowitz

Time to go in the closet…and take a tough-love look at what’s inside!
Wardrobe consultant to the stars, fashion journalist, and style guru Barbra Horowitz is on call for a little clothes therapy. With expert guidance and extremely practical how-tos, Horowitz shows how simple it is to send your fashion-happiness quotient into the stratosphere. She outlines the personality traits common to all clothes hounds, describes her unique fashion philosophy, and introduces her core concept of “eco-selfishness:” working with what you already have to get what you really want by revamping, recycling, and reselling. Throughout, there are easy instructions for restyling clothes along with sidebars packed with streamlining tips and case studies of real-life wardrobe renovations. Plus: the book includes a full-length DVD of a real-life closet therapy session!

This is an unbelievably helpful book. Reading about the general tendencies of cluttered people made me laugh, since most of it sounded exactly like me! After reading this book I took a thorough look at my closet, through new eyes. I found out that my closet isn't just a clothes depository, it has a nice carpet! And the doors really DO close! This book is a definite must read.

This book will appeal to all women who have bulging closets yet can never seem to find anything to wear. I am so that women and it is so ridiculous. Like may women around the world I have closets full of stuff that are new with tags, never worn, or just plain dumb purchases. This book allowed me to learn what my style was based on my purchases. It also showed me how to revamp my look and clean the clutter out of my life for good. I read it on the plane during a business trip and before I knew it my plane was landing. This book will definitely capture your attention and make you rethink a few future mall runs.

Lots of material about clothing design, tailoring and self-relfection. Forget the term "I have nothing to wear" and rediscover your own personal style. If you have problems with self-image, this book is a good start, as it will help you get out of the clothing rut many people find themselves in. Many creative possibililties.

I have a huge problem with keeping things longer than I should - I have always been this way. Not anymore after reading this book. My mother and I actually went through the book together, as we had equally horrendous closets, dressers and other storage spaces that were, quite simply, out of control. I'm 24, but I was hanging onto high school clothes that haven't fit me in years (when would I honestly wear that prom dress again?) and my mother especially had some clothes of hers yet from around the time I was born!

The book is super helpful in that it doesn't just instruct to get rid of what you don't wear, but rather tips on how to arrange your wardrobe to all flow and work together and how to decide what to not keep and donate or throw out. I tend to keep clothes for sentimental reasons which is silly, and this book totally helped me to get over those flaws in myself. I cleaned out my closet to such an extent that I realized how LITTLE of my things I was actually wearing! I made quite a bit of money bringing my old things to a consignment store or selling them on eBay and with that I was able to buy things to build up clothes that I AM actually wearing now for a new wardrobe. Awesome!

This is a great book for people who can not seem to stay organized like myself. I am 33, yet I am embarrassed to say, I still had clothes in my closet from high school! This book really helped me figure out what to keep, what to give to charity, how I could reuse items I already had, and how to put together some cute outfits with the clothes I already had on hand. My closet is finally organized now! Also, I feel like this book really saved me some money as well because I was able to look at the items I already had and re-work those to fit into my current lifestyle needs. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to organize their closet and their life. This book is not just about clothing- it has some great tips that can be used outside of the closet.

I am a serious clutter bunny. This one of the only organizational books out there that has shined some light on me. Some of the junk we have in our closets just need go. I really like the part when they tell you to ask yourself "have you worn this or even considered it in three months?" throw it away. This has helped me a ton, now I take my things to used clothing stores, even used design and trade in for an upgrade! Check out this book.

This is a definite must-read! I have always been very OCD when it comes to needing change constantly to be happy. I’m also the classic case of wearing clothes that just don’t seem to suit my body type. Always having been insecure, my clothes don’t seem to fit my personality, or my body. Well, not always having the money to change my wardrobe, this book seems to lend a helping hand. It really takes a step in helping you redo-you. A lot of times, you can change an outfit just by the accessories you wear with it. This book gives you an idea in figuring out little modifications you can do in order to make an affordable change! As crazy as it sounds, this book can change your life, the way you look at yourself and the way that other people view you. Like I said before, it’s worth your time- so what are you waiting for?

After recently losing a large amount of weight, I suddenly found myself literally having nothing to wear. So I did the natural thing and went out and bought lots of cute clothes, many of them “vintage” from local thrift shops. And then, they sat in my closet with a figurative question mark hovering above them. What do I DO with them to make them more “me”? And then one day, I was unloading shipments at the book store and lo and behold! The bright colors of this book jumped out at me. What I found inside were great tips and tricks on how to find your inner fashionista with what’s already in your closet (or in my case, “new” old stuff that I had no idea what to do with).

This book contains great tutorials on modifying your wardrobe through simple alterations: dyeing, cutting, simple sewing. If you don’t want to get your hands dirty, don’t try it! But if you’re willing to put a little effort into giving your wardrobe a new look, this is a great book.

This book is titled Closet Control because it's time to take control over your closet, not cut it down or buy new things - just learn to work with what you have.
If you have trouble finding what to wear in the morning or are unsure of your own style, this is the book for you! Barbra Horowitz walks you through a series of recommendations, ideas, and how-tos to get you dressed and ready to go with what you already have in your closet.
The great thing about this book is that it encourages you not to buy something new but to focus on what you already have. It also works to adjust to your personal style and closet contents so that you look your best. Prepare to revamp, resell, and recycle. You will get great, easy to follow instructions on how to modify your clothes, as well. This is a must-read. Don't let it get past you!
