Will the REAL You Please Stand Up?: 7 Spiritual Strategies to Help You Discover Your Purpose and Live it with Passion by Fran Harris

An authentic, joyful life can be hard to find. Fortunately, Fran Harris has written the map—in 7 steps anyone can take.
Successful, self-actualized and blissful: how many of us can say that about ourselves?
Fran Harris sure can. She's a national television personality, WNBA Champion, international inspirational speaker, life coach and consultant to Fortune 500 companies. But ask her about her greatest accomplishment, and she's likely to smile and say, "That's easy: I found the REAL me. "
Because she believes we should all experience that journey, Fran's new book reveals her secrets for scrapping what we think we know about authenticity so that we can see and live up to our own potential. Her "7 Steps" are unconventional—and maybe controversial—but they work.
Dr. Harris teaches that we'll only find our real selves by shedding all the layers of institutionalized belief, dogma and practice that we pile on in life—eschewing ritualized adherence in favor of a deeper, more spiritual view of the world and ourselves. This, she contends, is what "God" wants for us. According to Harris, when we become unburdened by society's expectations, we are free to experience true joy, more capable of tapping into our own genius, and more likely to attract abundance and prosperity in all areas of our lives.
A life of passion and purpose is everyone's birthright. Get yours!

I was looking for a good book about spiritual self discovery and came across this book. I'd been going through so much emotionally over the last year. I read the book front to back in 2 days! The book taught me so much about living your life for you not for others. It's about really being true to your god given path in life and discovering the hidden talents that make you you. After reading this book my life definately began to look up because I was looking at life in a different light. I took up painting after reading this book and it's been great! I would strongly urge anyone who's having a difficult time to give this book a go. You wont be disappointed!

Ok, so I was really hesitant when I picked up this book. I was looking more for solid "Here is what you do" down to earth ways to improve myself and my life. This "spiritual" stuff didn't much appeal to me. But, give this book a chance. The author gives us seven steps to take in this journey - and heck, I can see how they may be somewhat controversial to some. Cool! My interest was grabbed. The most difficult step for me was (and still is) "Let Go." ... I think each step offers great advice and most everyone can benefit in some way. The book challenges you to challenge yourself ... because risk is the only way to grow. Perhaps we all can forget our differences and really embrace the concepts in this book - religion and beliefs aside.

When I purchased this book my life was in shambles, I felt like there was no one in the entire world who could nearly understand what I was feeling inside. Being in a very long abusive relationship and not understanding why in God's name I would stay. I literally suffered at the hands of my Ex-boyfriend for almost 15 years, from the age of 13 till the age of 28, However the physical abuse didn't start until about 3 years after we were together and after our first two children were already born. I think you can get a picture of how my life looked, 18 two beautiful little girls, living in a tiny one bedroom apartment about a hour and a half away from my mom with no phone and on top of it all, a abusive boyfriend! "Physically and Mentally"! Anyhow this is when I decided to years later read this book, at the time when I read this I felt I had no one to talk to or no shoulders to cry on so what could it hurt in giving it a try, right? Well today I'm grateful I did, I was able to begin trusting me. Even though it took me quite some time to finally leave the father of my kids I must say I believe reading all the self-help books that I have helped me in making the decisions I finally did. Dr. Fran Harris speaks to calmly as well as somehow able to get through to people like me and you, the steps she speaks of which lead up to us having a successful happy life are totally awesome. Her words till this day I hold close at heart, I'm very thankful for her book. Today I do live life happy, not saying things are perfect, I don't think no one in the world has the perfect life, however today I make choices that are healthy for me, myself and my husband, who by the way happens to be a great man who has never physically or mentally abused me. If you or anyone you know are going through some really difficult times and feeling like their life is going backward instead of in a positive forward motion, I would truly recommend reading this book.

What an inspiration Dr. Fran Harris is in this book. Her uplifting advice and the steps to taking your life back and becoming the real person, the person inside - the one you always wanted to be. This book is fantastic, a keeper for the shelf and a future reference for when for when things start to go a little out of whack. When I need a little motivation, I go back and page through my favorite chapters this always makes me feel better.
The steps she describes to getting your life back together are thoughtful and prepared. I've had some pretty tough times in my life. I just needed a little help in understanding how everything that seem so ugly in my life could actually get turned around and become beautiful and I could enjoy life again. I won't be giving my copy away anytime soon. Great Book!

Someone once told me ~ "You will be the same person in 5 years that you are today except for 2 things: the people you meet and the books you read." Well, I must admit that I never truly understood what the books had to do with it, (even though I am an avid reader), until I read this one. I was both drawn in and held by the way Fran Harris wrote with such a passion that you are exhilarated just reading the book, knowing that you too can achieve what ever it is you want to achieve. She hits all of the important keys to success without preaching to you, thus making it an enjoyable read as well as a quick one. I reached the end with confidence and turned the last page wishing there were just a few more tidbits of advice & knowledge.
It matters not if you are an executive, underachiever, overachiever, a non-believer, an aspiring student, sales person, garbage man or a public figure; this is a book written for all walks of life.
If you are striving to have more and hope to one day help others who are less fortunate, then this is the book for you.
