I have read this book A Return to Love with an intension to get an answer to my doubts from a modern point of view about my existence in this world.Though I am still not clear about my purpose of existence, I got an inspiration to lead a purposeful life by giving love to needy people.I think, for those people who are often confused about the secrets of universe this book sholud be an eye opener. Instead of wasting their valuable time one can just relay on God and and explore the potential of love by practicing it. Though the principles mentioned in the book are old wine in new bottle, but the wine is still fresh and can give you some happiest moments to your life.I think this book will be a great help to people from all walks of life and recommend this book.

I borrowed this book from a friend of mine after a dreadful relationship. I admitt that I have read previous works by Mrs. Williamson but ... I felt this book was lacking. There are common sense references in this book that should have been left out. This seems to be the work of a very skilled authour but a subject to which all that have experienced a true embrace or brief encounter with love should have been able to compose. I have the disturbing vision of a woman in a new relationship sitting at her desk referencing all her past relationships and finding some level of inspiration yet not able to grasp completely onto the point. What was the point? Love is harder to tame or find at times than a jewel only known through legend. I felt that her literary talents were not shown to its potential.

Disappointing. That is all I will care to say about how I felt after reading the book. Oh what it could be and what it ended up as ! Trying to capture the theme of a course in miracles, this book ends up at best as a cheap counterfeit. There are sections where I felt that I may not be giving this book its due credit and in essence it is those sections which made me read the whole book and analyze it fairly.
And the result was same. It might be a good book for someone who is desperate to cling to anything to begin afresh but I would advice seasoned readers to read it with a little detachment. Marianne certainly is gifted and I am sure the book is wonderful, it is just that I could not relate to it.I do not know whether to recommend it or not so I will and you can decide on your own!

Ok, I am not a fan. I am aware of a big way that Ms. Williamson does not "walk her talk" and so I admit I am jaded. When someone who DEARLY respected and loved her was dying, all she wanted from her OLD FRIEND was a simple expression of compassion. It never came. It was devastating to see my friend die never hearing from Ms. Williamson. They had shared a home together for years in Michigan. So I'm showing my callousness and judgment by saying I hope Marianne will FIND LOVE and then share it with those who so admire her and surround her EVEN IF she's busy.

I really loved this book. If you put in the time and read The Course in Miracles, you will find this short hand version a wonderful refresher course. Marianne is at her best form, and gives explanations of the principles that remind me of the fact we have all grown since we first read The Course, we have changed and our understanding has changed. Marianne brings a more mature freshness to these principles. If you have never been a student of The Course in Miracles, this book will get you started with the basic principles in a format that makes them easy to understand. It could be entitled "The Course 101" and is a great place to start your exploration of the Course in Miracles with examples of how to apply the principles in real life. This book is a keeper.

I have read Marianne Williamson's book A Return to Love many times now, at different stages of my life, and I have found the message is always relevant and, surprisingly, I always come away with something new. The book is wrapped up in New Age philosophy, and can be esoteric at times, which is one of the only things I don't care for in this book. It's a cliff-notes type summary of A Course in Miracles, the New Age bible written in the 1970s. However, A Return to Love is beautifully written and universally understandable. I would recommend it for anyone who is at a stagnant point in their lives and is needing to rediscover who they are, but I would also caution readers to stay in the shallow-end of the New Age principles in this book. Williamson does a great job of explaining how to live a life of purpose and love.
