Using "eat that frog" as a metaphor for tackling the day's most challenging task, Tracy shows readers how to zero in on these critical tasks and organize their time. He details 21 practical, doable steps to stop the procrastination treadmill and get more of the important tasks done.
Amazing book! I was the WORST procrastinator in high school and college, but now that I'm out doing my own thing, I know the importance of biting the bullet, making those calls you need to make, writing those letters you need to write, because in the end it helps you. Its a really bizarre situation where people know what they need to do, they even know that live will be better when they the task is over with and they don't have to worry about it, but for some reason its more comfortable to sit back, and do anything else but the task at hand. My favorite tip was the "do the opposite" trick. Basically do the opposite of what you're supposed to do and see what that gets you. Usually so far behind that you have to rush to finish the project or task! Worked for me, I don't procrastinate...as much.
In my twenties I could have taught classes on procrastination, but I never got around to it! Luckily I found ‘Eat That Frog’ and my procrastinating days are gone for good. In ‘Eat that Frog!’, Brian Tracy comes up with 21 ways people procrastinate, and how to conquer this. The first step is determining what your frog is (area that needs help) and then how to eat it (beat that area in need of help). The book comes off as well-researched and is a very easy read – very important with this sort of thing.
I had a bad case of following the philosophy ‘don’t do today what you can put off until tomorrow’. This had a negative effect on all aspects of my life, from family to work. It was always easy to put stuff off. Mr. Tracy’s book showed me that I could be much more fulfilled if I did grab the bull by the horns.
Brian Tracy is a great author - one of the great self-help authors out there. His work is easy to read and enjoy. EAT THAT FROG! is no different.
The title of this book (along with the author) first caught my attention when I saw it on the shelves. I immediately wondered what the heck the frog was about, and I just had to find out. I bought the book and am delighted that I did. (I'll let future readers learn about the frog themselves when they read the book).
This book really does work if you take the time to follow its instructions and give it a chance. Though it may not permanently solve your procrastination problems, it will definitely help you get past the worst stages and start moving. It's up to you - Tracy is just there to give you a push.
