Although I would like to consider myself seeing the glass "half full" I have to admit I have some self doubt sometimes. Being with a girl for two years who lacked a great deal of self confidence also drove mine into the ground even farther. This book however, relates a message and a way to battle this behavior through simple exercises and everyday ways to live your life peacefully and without worry. I would constantly worry about things most people don't even think about on a daily basis. It drove me insane and I knew deep down I really didn't care about the things I was worrying about. It was really weird because my mind and heart seemed to battle constantly! This book didn't offer a quick fix, but it offered me the tools to get the fix. I'm still working on the ideas the book portrays, and I grow a little everyday. Definitely worth the time to read.

How could you not love this book? This is one of the most empowering books that I have ever read. This book is a wonderful resource for information. I feel that you are able to become a better person by reading this book. You are able to find more about yourself than you would by simple third party observation. I think that you are able find more about what you thought about when it comes to yourself.

If you have not found the inspiration to get through the day and through the moment then please read this book. I think that you should read this book as a revelation and testament of all that you should achieve.

If I remember right my dad gifted me this valuable book by Norman Vincent Peale on my 21st birth day. I was a little low in my spirits that time after a break up with my boy friend who was all the world to me until that separation. My confidence in life was shaky at that time, may be that is why my dad gave me this wonderful gift. I did not bother to read this book for a few weeks after I got it. Then I had to travel to a few towns on business and I carried the book with me. But when I started reading it I understood the power and value of the book. The tips to develop positive thinking are truly amazing. However there are a few set backs too, you can not practice it that easily as he mentions in the book. He is right that a total surrender to God will take care of everything in life. But, can we do that all that easily? It is easy to read and understand his techniques but difficult to follow them in life, though..

The Grand-daddy of Self-Help

I read this book in the 1960s and it was my introduction to self-help literature. Let me take you back...

This book was available to me in my family home, right on the shelf below the complete set of the Encyclopedia Britannica. My dad must have gotten it for inspiration, but we never spoke of that. All I know is that I discovered it one day at about age 14, when I was longing to be popular - and longing most of all, to be a cheerleader.

In every spare moment, I could be found in the reading chair in the den, one leg flung over the chair arm, reading and re-reading The Power of Positive Thinking. I was mesmerized. I realized that I could have some influence over the things I desired in my life. I was terribly young, but I began to see the power of having focus and a belief in myself.

I DID become a cheerleader at the very next tryouts and I amazed not only the teachers and coaches, but I also amazed myself. I was hooked on the Power of Positive Thinking. I read and re-read the book to keep up my motivation.

Now, many years later, I still appreciate the principles of Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. Dr. Peale was my earliest influence in what has become the self-help revolution and his book, The Power of Positive Thinking, is a masterwork that belongs in every self-help library.

I found Peale's "The Power of Positive Thinking" to be quite inspirational. The book focuses on simple ways that you can change your thinking to be more positive and the ways that it can affect your life. I read this book a little over a month ago, and it has honestly changed my life. I find that my relationships with friends and family are stronger, less arguments. I am more satisfied with my life. I found the tone of the book to be comforting, he tells the story the same a way that a father would give advice to his son, using real examples from his won life and passing down his wisdom. There is a lot of biblical references in here was well, so people with more religious tastes will surely enjoy it. If you have any spare time at all, even just a few moments a day, I would highly recommend this book. It will change your view on everything.

Norman Vincent Peale wrote this book before I was born, but his words ring just as true today as they did back then. Written from a Christian perspective, the book contains great lessons on how to transform your thinking from unproductive and negative to goal achieving, positive thinking. This book does not idolize being down trodden and defeated in mind or spirit.

It has great true-to-life stories of people that have created their own misery, but even better those who have learned how to create their own happiness and success by thinking positive thoughts and praying and visualizing a better life.

This is a book to read a little and practice what fits for you and then go on to read and practice some more. Really too much for anyone to digest and do in one sitting.

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale was not always the confident preacher when he was a young man. Like many people, he was also suffering from niggling thoughts of inferiority and self-doubt. This book is essentially a labor of love and experience from a man who actually applied the principles and got something out of it.

At first, I was really skeptical about Dr. Peale's whole Christianity angle. The book was just full of Biblical quotes that did not appeal to me. If you can get past the whole Christian angle, you will find some very eclectic and practical advice in this book that can help you set goals and prioritize the more important things in life.

I read this book during some trying times in my life. The book's suggestions and anecdotal evidence about autosuggestion gave me a bit of insight on how I can improve my life.

Today, autosuggestion is also called autogenic training in the field of sophrology. I find that almost esoteric, but Dr. Peale has a way with words that even a skeptic like me can appreciate.

To be honest, I'm still struggling with self-improvement, but the principles of Dr. Peale about stubborn, positive determination still resonates with me up to this day.

This book is good. The techniques recommended by Norman Vincent Peale are truly very practical. I have applied these powerful techniques and found great results in my own life. It is not just enough if you read the book. You need to practice the techniques given in the book. It is easy to tell but not so to follow the techniques in real life. You need to charge yourself with the positive thoughts as frequently as possible and as often, you need. Otherwise, you cannot get anything out of this book. You have to seed the positive thoughts right into your sub conscious mind to get consistent positive results. It is easy if you could surrender yourself fully to God. You leave all your problems and worries to God. Believe in him and believe that all your worries and problems cannot last long. However, you should try your best to solve the problems with your efforts. God will definitely solve your problems if you really have the faith.

In this book, Norman Vincent Peale will teach the principles of positive thinking and their powerful effect on your daily life. Mr. Peale also gives you exercises to follow to instill these new found habits of positive thought.

I find the very principles to be sound, but it does ramble on a bit. After being pumped up originally in the beginning of the book, I found my excitement starting to wane. I think the book could be a little bit more concise to hold the reader’s attention better. Although this book is inspiring, I have found books by other authors that would sustain your excitement throughout the book. I feel that inspiration comes to me in the state of being excited and if that wanes toward the end of the book, it is not the ideal result.

Although there is some good information in here, I would not recommend this book. I feel you can read a better book with the same information from other authors.

The power of positive thinking written by Norman Vincent Peale is telling us to live the"now".
There are very useful strategies in the book but I found this book a bit boring. The book is not that
helpful when I compare it to the other self -improvement books ı've read.
There are some stories and strategies combined in it but in my opinion it is far from explaining the
real meaning of them.

In the 1950's when Dr. Norman Vincent Peale wrote his highly popular book, "The Power of Positive Thinking", I wonder if he knew it would end up being published in 15 languages and still for sale over 50 years later? The beloved minister from New York City tapped into the very beginning of the new wave of self-help, pop pyschology books. What an entry his book made! "The Power of Positive Thinking" teaches us how to stop worrying, take ourselves lighter; how to believe in ourselves and live more relaxed lives. This book feels like having a warm and trusted grandfather sitting beside you sharing all he's learned in life. It's a very helpful book that would benefit us all to review every year or so. We are reminded that no matter how fast a life we're living, we can lead full, satisfying, relaxed and successful lives. Not only does his book teach us how to do this....Dr. Peale's life is a testimony to his work. He truly walked his talk.

If you are ever feeling stuck about what to get for a high school or college graduation present, perhaps a hard cover edition of this book would be the perfect gift? What could be better than giving a youngster a positive outlook as they start out into the world?

A few years ago, I was your average person, not too happy not too sad I was never the optimist until I have read this book. The book was recommended by a friend of mine to me, I saw the powerful effect it had on him and decided to convince myself. This book has life changing capabilities. For me, it was increased positive thinking, confidence, and also set up a kind of new mentality, one that I'm glad I posses now, and in general made me feel like a much better person. This book has 'steps' that really work and are not just a bunch of logic that seems correct. It reinforces certain concepts which overall lead to a better life, at least in my opinion. I would highly recommend this book to everyone, I'm sure everyone can also use more positive thinking, happy or sad, there are no exceptions to who this book can help. If it changed my life, it can most certainly change yours.

There is a huge push these days away from focusing on what's wrong and what's pathological to what's right and what's healthy. It's not being a polyanna; there is actual neurscience research in an area called neurplasticity, where what you focus on can change the wiring of your brain.

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale knew this from his heart and soul long before he need fMRI scans to verify it.

Read the new stuff if you like, but definitely read this classic that has withstood the test of time.

It's an old idea, whose time has come.
