Think and Grow Rich is the number one Inspirational classic for individuals who are interested in learning from important figures in history. The text in this book is the original 1937 edition written by Napoleon Hill, which has often been reproduced, but no updated version has ever been able to compete with the original text. Think and Grow Rich is a timeless classic and should be read by students of business, people with entrepreneurial spirit, and anybody who is interested in furthering their lives and reaching their goals. This book will guided many to success, and has sold millions of copies for nearly three quarters of a century.
I got this book because it was recommended to me by every successful internet marketer that I know. When it comes to being a "knowledge worker", like an internet marketer, artist, designer, or something similar, having the proper mindset is essential for financial success.
That's what this book can help teach.
Granted, it is old and very dry. Even some of the wording is blatantly racist. Such things were "acceptable" in literature at the time.
However, the insights and the spirit of the messages within the book are extremely valuable. It isn't often that you can actually get in the heads of self-made millionaires and see what actions they took to get to that level of success.
My favorite part is the story of the man who invented the radio. His family and friends had him committed to an asylum, thinking he was schizophrenic. He was talking about sending sound from a box in one location to a box in a different location.... almost by magic!
He must have been insane!
But if not for his work, our technology would have been ages behind where it is now.
Truly an inspiration.
By the way, this book is downloadable for free in many places online if you are okay with a digital pdf.
Awesome book- Napoleon Hill was commissioned by Andrew Carnegie to study the lives of wealthy men and learn why they're rich and other people aren't. Hill made some fantastic observations and shared them in this book. I was surprised to find some of the poor man thinking in my own head, because I thought that Robert Kiyosaki had taught it out of me. Hill's book is also great for a little history lesson. Did you ever even know in school that Edison invented hundreds of light bulbs that didn't work before he landed upon the one that did! Persistence pays, that's one of the lessons.
So, you're not going to get rich by only imagining. You also have to do. Imagining and visualizing are very important, however. Our thoughts are the foundations for our actions and the deals we receive in life. Nothing turns off the good life more than negative thinking, and that is where this book comes in. Think and Grow Rich will show you the thought processes of the greats, the motivations that gave them the footing and saw them through, and the ways with which you can achieve these patterns of thought.
It's an old book, but it has served as fodder for ideas for even more self-help books on the same subject. Whatever and wherever you are in life, you deserve to read and implement the advice given here. For your business ideas, seek out this book and get a solid foundation for the art of succeeding financially.
I certainly have garnered a few tips and have applied these thought patterns not only in financial matters, but in other challenges that I've encountered.
I bought this book when I was younger and more naïve than today. I wanted to believe that there was some process by which I could transform my life, especially if it did not involve something as distasteful as education or hard work. If this book accomplished anything, it proved to me that there are no shortcuts. That's because this book proved to be absolutely worthless. Work and knowledge will help me accomplish my goals. Wishing that I was rich will not.
Most of the advice in this book is silly, if not actually harmful. That is not surprising to me because I learned, after having read this book, that Mr. Hill never became rich himself. His exercises appear to be simply made up, and he offers no proven method of accomplishing anything. I have grown to love reading and collecting books, so when I say that this was one of the few books that I have thrown away then that means something. This is a terrible book.
This book has changed my life and has changed the lives of many people I know. Breaking down the process of thought and analyzing the great leader of our time and of Napoleon Hill’s day. After reading this book I began to implement the power of “What a man can conceive, he can achieve.” By setting goals that have a big meanings and purpose to me and focusing on those goals daily, monthly, and yearly, my goals come to fruition! I have formulated mastermind groups in my industry to expand and formulate grander ideas and strategies to maximize results. I’ve gone to many motivational seminars, read dozens and dozens of books on motivation, business, and leadership; It seems like everything I’ve learned or continue to learn stems in some way from Think and Grow Rich. I am currently building a real estate company and am going to make this book a mandatory read for all my associates. It changed my life and I guarantee it can change yours. This book is the first step to gaining control and power over your life!
This is the original inspiration for all the modern books about wealth. Napoleon Hill’s language and some of his examples may be dated, but his principles are the basis of everything written about wealth since they were first published.
I think, for myself, the best thing about Hill is that he clearly emphasizes that true wealth actually has very little to do with money. Peace of mind is the ultimate wealth. It can indeed be enhanced by money only because money can provide the security of not having to worry about how to feed your family, pay the mortgage or give it away to charities and cause you are passionate about.
Napoleon Hill inspired many people to accomplish great things. After reading this book, I was able to make a career change that I had long wanted to make but never had the courage to try prior to reading Think and Grow Rich.
What Napoleon Hill says in his masterpiece “Think and Grow Rich” holds true for all ages. This great philosophy of wealth, which Hill put together after making a careful study of hundreds of successful individuals, works with any person, male or female, irrespective of their location. The book is not just about material wealth; it is about achieving success, whatever be your definition of success.
When I first read this book, I was skeptical. Could this really work for me, I wondered? But then, it seemed to have worked for many people; so, I decided to give it a try. Needless to say, it worked! That’s the beauty of Hill’s philosophy. You cannot just read the book, toss it aside, and wait for success. Success smiles upon you only when you have a “burning desire for it,” as Hill says. It comes only when you apply this extraordinary philosophy to your life.
This book has many principles that are the very foundation of being successful at anything. What impressed me was that it was written from primary research of Napoleon Hill actually interviewing already successful people across 20 + years. This tells me that the thinking is “real world” because it is based on actual results from actual millionaires. This moves it away from other books that profess sometimes unproven theories, into a rock solid, real world information category.
Using this book, one can forget reinventing the wheel. The real success principles used by real millionaires are laid out for you in black and white, step by step. I look at this book as the foundation of success principles that one can use to move forward in life. These principles are as valid today as they were in 1937 when the book was written. I very much recommend that you read this book to improve your life by following these principles.
There are very few books that stand the test of decades. Think and Grow Rich did pass through time and has given tips and examples to at least 2 generations about harnessing the power of the mind.
Today however, with the new discoveries in metaphysics, mind-body connections and spirituality, the content of this book needs an upgrade. There's no denying the quality of the body of work and the fact that it can be followed, but do today's readers really have the patience to follow a text of this type?
Personally, I started the book because the title grabbed me but didn't happily finish because (a) My mom said she'd had her go at it 30 years ago (and no riches happened, quite evidently) and (b) I didn't relate to the railroad entrepreneurs and steel magnates. Let's talk about technology and wellness entrepreneurs, shall we?
This is definitely a book to add to your library for self improvement books. A lot of writers have pulled ideas from 'Think and Grow Rich'. I do have to say that it is rather dry, but the points that are made are great. Napoleon Hill makes the point of studying very successful figures as a means to ascertain how they grew rich, and provides a step by step method of acquiring the practices of successful people, so that you can be on the same financial path.
A couple of the recommendations Hill makes are: to keep a detailed list of things you have to do, and an order of importance of these goals, so that you had a game plan for the day. Doing this everyday enables ont to be more productive and successful. Write positive affirmations was another one. Write down what you want accomplished, and read it morning and evening, so that the goal is clear in your mind. This is something Rhonda Byrnes mentions in 'The Secret'.
I have practiced some of what he has to say. I couldn't get through the whole book in one sitting because it is dry; but, it is something nonetheless that is good for everyone to have in their reading library, to maybe read in bits and pieces.
