The Elephant in the Playroom was given to me, within hours of one of my children being diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome. I was devastated and heart broken. I felt as if no one else would ever know what I felt at that moment.

However the more of the book that I read the more I felt as if I was not alone, the more I laughed and the more I cried. I felt an instant connection to the other moms/families in the book and for once I was able to laugh.

I keep The Elephant in the Playroom beside my bed and when I have a bad day, I pick it up to read an exert from it. The pages are ragged and some even torn, but it remains a treasure of mine, one that I will never get rid of.

This is a great gift for any family dealing with a special needs child.
