As a mother of a large family, I was looking for a way of eating that would help me keep weight off, and mostly, give me more energy and make me feel lighter. When I saw this book, it interested me, and I bought it. It turned out to be even more than I had hoped for.
The thing I liked the most about this book was that it gives several levels to use in putting this diet in place. Whether you are a processed food junkie who never eats raw food, or a vegan, there is a place for you in this book. You are not encouraged to go cold turkey into this diet, in fact, it is recommended that you don’t, so that your body does not go into overload and end up not being able to pass the waste of the Detox, thereby making your body more toxic than ever. You are urged to go slowly, and pick up the pace as you see welcome changes in your weight and the way you feel. I wasn’t personally interested in the enemas she talked a lot about, but I just skipped over that part.
By using the guidelines in this book, I found myself at a ‘level three’. At that level, you are instructed to eat raw foods through out the day, as much as you wish, until dinnertime. At dinnertime, you eat a cooked meal. This worked so well for me, as I was able to cook and eat with my family, who were not interested in this diet. This level was not hard, and in fact enjoyable, and I did see very good results.
Another nice thing is if I ‘fall off the wagon’ of eating this way for a while, it is very easy to resume the diet. It could be just a way of living that is very ‘doable’.
I would and have highly recommended this book. It is very interesting, easy and enjoyable to read.
Thanks for the honest and comprehensive review. It was good to read about your experiences on a raw diet. I've been interested in phasing in some aspects of a raw diet, but I was really looking for "real" people and "real" experiences. Like you, I would have to do this in a modified way, since others in my family would miss that hot, home cooked meal.
Continued good luck to you!
