Vicks VapoRub was a staple in our house when I was growing up. I can remember many nights, after we were all in bed, someone clamoring for Mom to bring the Vicks. I'm not sure if it really clears a stuffy nose as much as forces it's way though the stuffiness. I also remember my grandmother using it to soothe chapped cheeks and rubbing it into my father's sore muscles. I keep a jar of it on hand and use it when any of my own children have a stuffy nose and the unique smell remings me of an old friend.
