I stumbled upon this book after realizing my daughter (and myself) are typically 'more sensitive' than others. This book has been one I refer to often for understanding and tips on how to raise my highly sensitive daughter. Elaine Aron talks about the trait of sensitivity and how it is present in about 20 percent of the population. There are many characteristics of senstivity and you can take a quiz in the book to see if your child leans in that direction. Aron describes the trait of sensitivity, the possible manifestations of sensitivity, and also has sections in the book on different ages of sensitive children and how to deal with their sensitivities and many possible scenarios and tips. I remember also a chapter on help if you as the parent are highly sensitive too, or if you are not highly sensitive; either way she gives you ways to feel successful in dealing with your highly sensitive child. It's definitely a book I'll refer to probably for years to come!

This was a great review. Having what I think is a highly sensitve child and reading this review certainly would encourage me to purchase this book to use as a point of reference for working with my daughter through her sensitive times. I myself feel that I am supersensitive and look forward to reviewing the book in more detail.
