Wiggle_worm7's review of: Teach Me How to Say It Right: Helping Your Child With Articulation Problems
I never thought much about my oldest's speech. I have never had a problem understanding what he was saying (except when he was just learning to speak). I was accustomed to him saying Logurt, instead of yogurt, and Sef instead of Seth. But my older sister has a son who wasn't speaking at all, so she hired a speech therapist. Her speech therapist recommended this book to her because it has exercises in it which are easy to employ at home, by even the most busy parents. After talking to her on the phone one day, she heard my oldest speaking, and suggested the book to me. It clicked that a LOT of people have a difficult time understanding what he was saying, and this book has been amazing. It has only been a few weeks since we have started the exercises, but already there is marked improvement in his speaking. The only thing is I wish I had found it a long time ago, and that I had recognized the problem a long time ago. There are some things which we can still practice, but he is at the age where a lot of the things in the book no longer apply. Otherwise, it is an excellent guide, easy to follow, and easy to do exercises are included in the book.
