My mom bought this book originally, because I used to have problems with cutting. After reading it to gain a better understanding of who her daughter had become and how to deal with it (hopefully without going insane and having to commit herself!) she silently left it on my desk. After going through the usual, "Oh whatever, I'm fine" I picked it up and read it. It's really interesting to recognize so many of your key behaviors in a book. I know this book was written for the people who have to live with you, or interact with you, but to read it yourself is actually quite helpful. It can help you recognize some key behaviors, and help yourself try to recognize them before they stop, and hopefully turn them into something more positive. Good Luck!

A really close friend of mine was a cutter, too. I also ran into this book, and it helped me understand him and better help him handle it. I'm proud to say that this book has helped me to help him overcome everything that made him cut in the first place. It definately turned him into something more positive.
