I am truely frustrated with this book. I admitt, I was one of the ones who watched the Oprah episode that started all the hype. I read the novel and it annoyed me with all the build up and the attitude as if the secret was some scripture that would move the mountains and turn my house into an mansion.
Well sorry to spoil it but here it is; if you think it, what you want will manifest itself.
Wow there ya go. Was anyone as disappointed as I was? Was anyone kicking the walls and throwing the book as much as I was? It's aggrivating. But, none the less, they have ten dollars of my money and it's a wrap.
I appreciate your point of view but I think by oversimplifying The Secret, you may have overlooked its validity. As several of the teachers mentioned, it's not as simple as "positive thinking" -- you need to have strong desire, passion and feeling behind positive thoughts to see true improvement. I would recommend listening to the audiobook sometime, it really is empowering to hear these inspirational words spoken by the teachers themselves!
