Welcome to The Art of Manliness- a blog dedicated to uncovering the lost art of being a man.
The Art of Manliness is authored by husband and wife team, Brett and Kate McKay. It features articles on helping men be better husbands, better fathers, and better men. In our search to uncover the lost art of manliness, we’ll look to the past to find examples of manliness in action. We’ll analyze the lives of great men who knew what it meant to “man up” and hopefully learn from them. Every week we seek to uncover the essential skills and knowledge today’s man needs to know. Since beginning in January 2008, The Art of Manliness has already gained 19,000+ subscribers and continues to grow each week.

I love this site! the blog entries are entertaining, informative, and well organized. Also, there's just so many of them! Until I read through some of it, It never dawned on me that some men might not actually know how to change a tire, build a campfire, or any of the other things that I just sort of assumed was programmed in them before birth. I also love the nostalgic artwork throughout the site.

As the spouse of a man and mother of teenage boys, I find this site an entertaining and informative glimpse into the minds of the creatures I share a living space with. I find myself forwarding items from this site on to my husband, and occasionally my sons.

Containing lots of tips on things like dressing, grooming, and etiquette, a lot of the topics are part of the seemingly dying art of being a man. I particularly like the "Manvotionals", typically articles on men of the past, their philosophy and manner...what made them a manly man.

There is a reader forum, but as a woman, I haven't visited or participated. Based on the tone of the rest of the site, I suspect it's an interesting place for men to hang out.

The Art of Manliness is an awesome site. Managing to be positive while retaining a sense of humor, the site should appeal to women as much as it does to men.

There's a lot going on here, with a lot of posts dedicated to all type of many art: there's the fine art of facial hair, the importance of being a sharp dressed man (with facial hair? ZZ Top would no doubt approve), and even advice on the cultivation of man friendships (often known as Bromances).

I think this is a site that men should be paying attention to, because the advice is really fantastic. Women should read up also, because the things you find here are things you should be looking for in a man (beard optional, of course).

The Manly Skills section is probably the best part, where you can brush up on your Morse code, or even how to land a plane in an emergency (because you never know).

There's even a free downloadable Manly cookbook. You should definitely go check it out.

I was a little hesitant when I first came across this site, thinking it would essentially be a frat guy’s guide to manliness. I was pleasantly surprised, however, to find The Art of Manliness has really some great advice for being a man in today’s world, with the focus being on becoming a good man and a better husband, a better father, rather than just “scoring chicks” or “getting ripped.” I also appreciate that there are articles with a woman’s perspective on what it is to be manly as well, giving the advice on this site a well-rounded feel. Articles like “Nice Guys Don’t Have To Finish Last” focus on becoming comfortable in your own skin and being confident rather than just being a jerk, getting what you want, and only thinking of yourself, which I think is a positive message for today’s men to be hearing.

I am a woman and I have to say, The Art of Manliness is an awesome site. It’s about time the guys had a site which celebrated being a man who stands up for himself and others. In our modern world too many men (and women) seem to confuse being politically correct and sensitive to the needs of others, with an excuse to be a wimp. The topics are presented in an interesting and exciting way, and graphics on this site are too cool. There is a barbershop locator, great for guys like my husband who bemoan the closing of far too many of them, the kind of guys who will not go to anyone who calls themselves a stylist. The “Man-Up” t-shirts the site is selling, tells you all of what this site is about and I think it’s a great message, more men need to embrace. As an extra special bonus this site offers two free e-books: “The Art of Manliness Cookbook “ and “Guide to Being a Gentleman in 2008”. Check this fun site with a great message.
