I think that Buzan has written a straight forward, basic manual about speed reading and mind improvement. But, do not expect to be able to read a page in two seconds after reading this book (although the human eye should be able to do that in theory). Instead, I would look to this book to gain a greater understanding of what the mind should be able to accomplish and what holds humans back from making such gains.

The book does feature some exercises and techniques. Your reading speed will increase by practicing these techniques. However, the author delves into great explanations about eye anatomy, obstacles to reading, and memory issues. These are all fascinating and useful subjects, but do not necessarily focus on techniques needed to increase speed.

I think this is an interesting, useful book; it just might not be what many people expect.

It is true that you cannot in a day, learn to read a page in 2 seconds. But I am a very fast reader already, and knowing that this book has techniques to help me read faster, I'm really interested. Thanks for the information! :)

Hmm, sounds like it would be a good book just for the learning aspect. But, just curious - after reading the book, did your reading speed improve? And how much did your speed improve if it did? Thanks for the review too!

Basic is always a good place to start! I've always been able to read fast but I'd be interested in figuring out how much faster I can read. I think I will check this out.
