Finally! For those who made it through Skinny Bitch without being too entirely offended or being turned off by the all-or-nothing tone of the writers, here’s a cookbook to start you on your path to a healthier, more balanced diet. Or so the summary would have you believe. In reality, while a lot of these recipes are great for beginners- they’re easy, resemble that ‘junk’ food you’re giving up, and can provide some great foodie comfort in times of need- they don’t really give you something that I find essential in a vegetarian or vegan diet—true balance. Almost all are soy based, instead of taking advantage of the natural flavors and nutrients available in a variety of foods. Why try to recreate something that reminds you of the stuff you used to eat when you can fall in love with something completely new?
Like the first Skinny Bitch book, many may be turned off by the tone of this one. These girls aren’t always polite, and they’re not always politically correct. But there is fun to be had, so you might as well give it a try!
