They say that mother is God in the eyes of a child, and that's so true. Unfortunately, my mother and I do not have a good relationship. I can remember being younger and thinking my mom was everything, no matter what wrong she did. Now, that I'm older and I've learned, it's kind of hard to look at her the same way. I do enjoy the Chicken Soup books, but this one was really hard for me to read. I guess I'm lucky I still have an amazing relationship with my stepmom. She was the mother I never had.

My partner has a very close love hate relationship with her mother. I have been thinking and telling her how lucky she is that her mother wants to be part of her life, as mine does not. I think, after reading your review, that this book needs to be purchased for my partner. Thanks!
