Depends on what you consider "a fortune". I'm a big fan of the Gap, and if you can go a little deeper into your wallet, Banana Republic. With a few choice items from either store (or both) every year, you'll never be accused of looking like you're stuck in the last decade.

When you say "complete and up-to-date" wardrobe your personal style should be taken into consideration, as well as what you need for work vs leisure. Are you looking to break your usual mold, and change your style, or stay within the bounds of what is a comfortable look for you so far in your life?

Look in men's magazines, on MTV, VH1 for the latest fashion trends. Then try on different styles of clothing in stores. Once you have a better idea of the kinds of looks you are going for you can find similar styles at discount stores like Ross, Marshall's, and TJ Max. You'll be amazed at how much further your money will go in those kinds of stores.

Years ago I saw the movie Kama Sutra and the rich palette of jewel colors and flowing material of the costumes inspired me to completely change the way I dressed. The movie Annie Hall inspired many women to wear mens' fashions; and the movie Xanadu had women wearing leg warmers with everything. So perhaps there is an actor whose fashion sense you are attracted to. Search out photos of him and see if you can find similar clothing for yourself.
