I need some advice really bad.
I'm a 19 year old lesbian that lives in a really small town.
I'm not happy at all.
Lately my life has just been getting worse and worse.
I don't know how to deal with emotional problems so I just ignore them.
I haven't dated anyone in 2 years and I have no idea how to go about meeting a girl and dating.
Yea, it's pretty screwed up right now.
Any advice would be helpful.

Dear Squirt,

That must be hard to live in a small town and be gay. There probably aren't many if any at all resources to help. Do you have anyone you can confide in? What do you do? Are you a student or are you working? Maybe you could move to a larger city where you can find the support you need. I am sure there are other lesbians in town but they are most likely in the closet. Hang in there and believe that good things will happen to you. Start writing a list of goals you would like to accomplish. You will feel great working towards them and who knows you just might meet that special someone who has some similar interests.

Being queer in a small town sucks. Look into resources in the nearest large city. You can do an internet search with the city name and then add "lgbt" also try searching the city name with "glbt" you will prob get different organizations. I am sure there will be queer friendly therapist and support groups in the next biggest city- or if you have a decent size college around they should have a resource center. The worst thing you can do is sit in that small town and do nothing... so get going!

Hi Squirt,

I can totally relate to the way that you are feeling, since I was you 3 years ago. I am pretty sure that you are not the "only gay in the village", but I agree with the other comments, looking into resources in the nearest city or college is an excellent way forward.

That's exactly what I did, I got myself a job and moved to a new town. I've since made new friends with the same outlook on life as me and things have never been better. Don't procrastinate - life is out there waiting for you.
