There was once a quoted line,: "You become what you read in books." The vast majority of people no longer read; books have been replaced with televisions and magazines full of drama, sexual temptation, violence, dirty lies, and false dreams. This is what society has slowly become.
We wonder why marriage seldom lasts. Women see false fantasies of overly romantic men and expect us to fulfill them. On top of that drama has destroyed mankind in relationships. Reality T.V. and ridiculous situations in sitcoms are not delivered into our every day lives. When there seems to be no problems, usually the women (Occasionally the man), will seek and find an insignificant problem, and the mouth also known as the volcano - ERUPTS! All the black ash and red hot fire flying all around us making it hard to truly see the beauty within us.
Now I'm not here just to pick on the women. Men also are effected by the effects of lust and "manliness," we see on commercials, billboards, and cinema. Sometimes its hard to keep focus on the one we love when trashy half naked sluts are overflowing our eyelids from every direction. Sometimes, in fast most of the time I wish I had lived in a different era; a time when there was little technology, a time when every want and desire was'nt within arms reach or eyes view. I feel like I am a good person when it comes to values, conscious, and character, but my significant other makes me feel otherwise. Sometimes she makes me feel like such a terrible human being, and like everything I do - is WRONG, but I love her, so life moves on.
I expect nothing less with the negativity all around us suffocating us like a pillow held over our heads. I can only dream and hope that one day we can celebrate the gift of living, and focus on the positive within us, within everyone.
I will close with this requiem of incomplete, STEP 1: Mass Destruction of Self!
