We’re all busy. Even if you’re not that busy, you probably feel too busy to workout. Funny though, we all seem to have time to watch all those tv shows on the DVR. Here are my top tips to fitting exercise into your hectic day:
- Commit to a weekly workout schedule, preferably at least 3-5 days a week. Tell yourself about it. Tell other people. Make it a part of your life.
- Exercise first – do your workout first thing in the morning before your brain has time to think up any clever excuses.
- Write down your plan. This further step of commitment helps your mind believe you are really going to follow through.
- Maximize days off. Devote some of your non-working days to longer workouts. Involve friends and family for healthy multi-tasking.
- Get a buddy. Everything’s more fun with a friend. Your love interest, spouse, parents, children, co-workers, and friends can be powerful partners in your quest for a more active life.
- Clean house. Sometimes you just can’t face the treadmill. Move your bed to clean out the dust bunnies, wash the windows, scrub the floor. This is how our grandparents stayed in shape!
