Take a great two-week trip every year.

I love to travel and experience different cultures -- and just one week isn't enough. My favorite trip so far: Australia. I spent a few days in May 2001 speaking to local businesses in Brisbane on the topic of internet marketing and then I was off on a 10-day up to Port Douglas for snorkeling at The Great Barrier Reef and expeditions into the rain forest, to the outback and Ayer's Rock where I rode camels and hiked with aborigines, and then back to Sydney where I took in a classical music concert at the Opera House, climbed the Bridge and took in the city. It's this trip of I'd like to take every year.

I've travelled to 4 continents so far, but I won't be satisfied until I've gone to Africa.

Larry, I agree that it's better to have more than one week for a vacation, to really unwind and rejuvenate. However, I also see the value in having many mini-vacations throughout the year. As a business owner, who is growing her business, I prefer to have one-week retreats and long-weekend getaways well dispersed throughout the year. This way, I'm able to be available for my clients, while giving myself time away to rejuvenate. It works for me!

This year, I've taken a one-week trip up north to visit my sister and new niece; participated in a one-week Tai Chi health recovery week as an assistant instructor; enjoyed a retreat weekend at a spiritual centre; got away for a weekend in Montreal to enjoy the Just for Laughs festival; and will be going to Grand Manan Island next week to R&R in a cottage. Wow. By way of your post, you have reminded me of the abundance of vacations I have enjoyed, in a way that works for me. Thanks!

Hey Larry, after college and before the "real world," I would travel to far-off countries for three months at at time! Sadly, I burnt myself out after my 2nd year, but wow, did I have a grand time! I'd pack in several countries, wake up and take a train somewhere new on a whim, wonder where I'd be sleeping that night, or where I'd be wandering to-- it was the best! After getting that out of my system, I decided that I definitely want to get paid to travel and that 2wks/out of the year, till I figure out how to get paid to travel, would suffice. One of my long-term goals is to own a home in Sicily that I can escape to once the paparazzi start hounding me;) Shoot, maybe I shouldn't have made my hide-out spot public.....Anyway, what's your favorite part of the world?

Look at that, I answered my own question (duh!) Well, I've been to Africa, I was born there. New question: Where in Africa are you thinking to go? We should go to PeoplePlay, under Travel or Adventures and begin a PeopleJam wish-list of top destinations.
