This is a really good daily meditation book. It has inspirational messages that just leave you feeling a bit better. It makes a great graduation present, also. It is a bit redundant, but still a good read or gift.

While this book was okay, it wasn't really what I expected. I was expecting to read a book that showed me ways to not "sweat the small stuff", but I really didn't get that out of it. My mother read a lot of self-help books when I was growing up and I do recall seeing this but never read it. There's really nothing new in this that isn't in all the other self-help books out there. There are really no ideas about how to help me manage stress, just basically that I needed to do it. The author gives some brief thoughts on different subjects, but, being honest, I'm a little disappointed that I spent the money on this book.

I get stressed out easily, and what's worse, I work in a deadline-oriented profession (newspapers). Last year, I knew I wanted to pick up a book about stress management, but I didn't know which one would be best.

About that time, I noticed a friend had a copy of this book. I'd heard of "Don't Sweat" but wasn't sure if it was just hype or actually something useful. On a whim, I asked my friend if I could borrow it.

I finished it in just a couple of days, but I'd actually recommend reading just a few of the bite-sized sections at a time. Ideally, I'd love to buy a copy and use it as sort of a daily meditation; I'd read one section each morning, and for that day, I'd try to think about it and put it into practice.

Some of the ideas are pretty common sense, while others are somewhat radical. The ones I like best revolve around the idea of putting yourself in the other person's shoes. When someone is rude to you at a supermarket, try to think what his day (or life) must have been like for him to end up so cranky, for instance.

I also like the advice about moods- being aware of your own, knowing they'll pass, and giving your loved ones a little slack when they're in a bad mood.

I'd recommend this book to anyone looking to manage stress better. It's especially good for people who aren't typical readers, because each lesson is just one to three pages. Just about anyone has time to read two pages a day.

My stepdad was a big self-help fanatic. I remember seeing this book lying around the house when I was much younger, but didn't take it upon myself to read it until recently. It basically takes the idea of giving a new perspective to worries and anxieties in the grand scheme of life, and puts a "self-help" spin on it. The book can be summed up in its title, and you don't need to waste your time reading the author's brief thoughts on the subject, with no real elaboration or exploration of his thoughts. I didn't get much of anything from this book, except a headache!

Don't Sweat the Small Stuff is a great book, I was able to really get a lot out of this book. I honestly believe being a worry wart was totally something I picked up from my mom, My mom was always stressing out over something or another and boy did I pick up on her habit. As an adult I worried so much that I literally put myself in the hospital at the age of 29 with gall stones, and low and behold the doctor told me they can occur from being over-stressed. I suppose that said it all. After reading this book I was able to realize that indeed just as the book says, "And It's All Small Stuff", is so true. I can say today that so many of the things I made so big were actually things in which I shouldn't have even worried about, half of the things I worried about I couldn't even change so why did I do this to myself? I don't have the answer to that, however today I no longer suffer from being the worry wart person. I live today knowing that worrying about petty things isn't worth the stress I add on my life. Having this book for a few years now has really made a difference in my life I would really recommend it to anyone who worries constantly about everything and anything. Believe me you will definitely get something out of this reading, it will be well worth your time.

I have been given this book back when I was in highschool by my mom. My I took it to heart. This book changes your life if you give it the chance. The 97 version I had was just "don't sweat the small stuff" and this version adds the couple chapters about putting everything in perspective that everything IS small and none of it really matters in the end. Its a strange thing when everything in our culture says things are important, having your way is important, and to be upset when anything less than that happens.

I love this book because whenever I feel overwhelmed, I can just read one of the page long chapters and feel refreshed that really, nothing is important to waste time stressing over, things have a way of working themselves out, be your best and the rest falls into place.

I got this as a gift from a self-help guru friend of mine (the same girl who turned me onto The Secret). I really rely on this book on days where I start to freak out over everything. Only when I read this book, I realize that everything I'm freaking over is really nothing that important to freak out over. I'm a bit of a worrier, so in those times where I start to lose it, I grab my book and it gives me a breath of fresh air. It's a quick read, so there's never a time where I think "I don't have the time to read any of this." Great read- buy it!!!!

I had heard of this title and somehow decided that I was fine and didn't need the advice it contained. I stumbled upon it at a yard sale, and for $.50 thought I might as well add it to my library, even THEN not really intending to read it! A few weeks later I was getting agitated over the kids dawdling over breakfast and almost totally lost my patience when my 7 year old spilled milk on my shoes. My 14 year old grabbed a rag and said, "Mom? why you sweatin' the small stuff?" I was astonished when she pulled "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff...And It's All Small Stuff" out of her backpack and handed it to me! I spent the next couple days lazily reading, allowing each point to linger and make itself at home, until guess what? I realized that I DID have a lot to learn! I am so very much happier now than ever before, now that I understand that It's All Small Stuff! READ THE BOOK!

The paperback book "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" "and it's all small stuff"...really helped me (in spurts) ten or so years ago. I like that the book is written in such a way that only a page or two equalled a chapter at a time. There's small pieces of information on each page, so the reader won't be overwhelmed. At first I'd read one or two "ideas", and give everything thought. The idea "not sweating the small stuff" really began to take shape. How small is small? The book is very well written and it basically motivates the reader to "let go" and live a happier life. Prior to reading this book I wasn't aware as to how often "petty" problems plagued me. I've changed! If a particular "challenge" bothers me today, I first think about how long this problem will endure. 5 years? 5 months? 5 weeks? 5 hours. 5 minutes, etc...I stop caring quickly about any problem that won't last at least a year. Life has no dress rehearsals. A "tidbit" I use often came after reading this book. I picture myself on my "death-bed". The only focus is on how many REGRETS do I have? One or two, I can tolerate - but my daily mission is to effectively eliminate as many regrets as I can. We only live once....there's no time for the small stuff, let alone many of the much larger "stuff". The short, inspirational pieces of writing in this book will undoubtedly "wake" up the "non-complainer" in you,.

I will never forget the first time I read this book. I was always a voracious reader as a child and I had an obsession for books of quotations. When I first saw this book sitting amongst my parents' vast library, I thought that was what it was. I was wrong and could not have been more pleased.

Even at a young age, I realized that I was reading a priceless piece of information. I think it is this book that echoed throughout my soul that helped me to grow up into a strong, independent woman who has always had a strong grasp on who I am.

It's brief and it does jump from one topic to the next, but I feel it's just to the point and gives you the meat of the matter, rather than immersing you amongst a bunch of fluff and filler. Whenever I am having a hard day or I'm being too hard on myself, I pull this book out and thumb through it and always feel better!

For years I would stress out about the smallest things. Being on time, not getting something done when I should have, etc. My stepdad bought this book for me as a gift one year. I never read it, it sat in a box of books for many years. Last year I rediscovered it and wow! I was just sweating the small stuff. If you prepare your life, and are more organized those things you were stressing out that were so tiny will no longer exist. Most things people get worked up about are really pointless things. Read this book and learn how important things are and how important it is to stay calm and relaxed. Hope it helps!

This book is a small book, that left a lasting impression with me. Unfortunately, I am more pessimistic than optimistic, and the big stuff in my life I get through, but the small stuff I definitely sweat. This book is great, because it gives you a kick in the pants with real life stories, that remind you to stop taking yourself so seriously. This book is an easy read, one that I find myself going back to several times a year, to remind myself to stop sweating the small stuff. Unlike other motivational books, this one is worth the money, and will leave you in a good mindset to get through the daily grind of your life. I highly recommend this book.

I first heard of this book at church. My pastor gave sermons for about a year inspired by tings he read in the book! “Don’t sweat the small stuff” people were starting to say to each other jokingly because the pastor kept referring to it in his message so much. This finally perked my curiosity. I bought it and started reading it. It was filled with little words of advice. It focused on things that bother us as human beings and then the author turned these things into positive life lessons. I love this little book too. I see now why my pastor referred to it so much. He wanted us to become better people.

If you want a book that brings out the optimistic side of your personality, this is the one. The stories are humorous and touching. The lessons are ones that reflect good solid values and virtues. These are the kind of stories you can remember and talk with others about when the topic comes up. Richard Carlson is quite a storyteller and his stories are worth repeating.
