Being "of an age", I was thrilled to find this book at a garage sale last summer. I've been plagued with symptoms for awhile now and wondered what on Earth was going on with me... Can it really be time for {gasp} menopause? Well...yeah. But there is a lot more to it than our mothers have whispered to us, and it's all here in this book. While reading it I felt very earthy and natural. I felt I deserved to be pampered, coddled, treasured... Then I had a hot flash and reality set in. Yes, this book makes what's happening to you more understandable and perhaps more bearable, but it won't stop the clock, so get used to "loving" your symptoms. I agree that all we women should take the time to focus on ourselves and that there's no better time than menopause. Maybe it's even safer then, so there's nobody else around to get the backflash from those hot flashes!
I can not say any woman really longs for the wisdom of menopause. Most of us wish we would get amnesia at that time and not have to remember we are going through it but this book provides a great wealth of information...the good, bad and yes, even the ugly so that you can have confidence in going through menopause. It is well written and sincere. I am not at menopausal age yet however this book is helpful for me in dispelling some of the myths and fears I have. I would recommend this book to be read by all women.
Menopause is a phase of life that most women will experience, yet few discuss. This book shares the secrets of menopause, and suggests various ways to live through menopause.
The book discusses various options for dealing with hot flashes, night sweats, and other menopause symptoms. Diet and exercise, nutritional supplements, hormone therapy, all possible options for making menopause manageable are covered in this excellent book.
How much of menopause is hormonal, how much is psychological, how much is physical? This book covers all of these topics, as well as de-mystifying the cures.
A must-read for menopause sufferers!
This is an amazing book! It has the good, bad and ugly about going through the "change". Not only does this book tell you what to expect physically, it also tells you what you can expect emotionally. The wonderful thing is that the book doesn't stop there. She gives wonderful advise on how to cope both physically and emotionally. She gives detailed information about what vitamins and herbs can do for you. She advises what foods are helpful and which are not. There is even discussion about what diseases can occur and when you should be tested for them. One of the best things about this book is that it doesn't ever feel like a "preachy" book. She lays all the facts out and lets you draw your own conclusions to what is best for you. There were stories included from other women that made this book very personal and insightful. I would recommend this book to any woman, even if they aren't going through menopause yet. It is just a superb book!
