Dating Disasters and how to Avoid Them by Joy Browne

In her newest foray into the world of strange and wonderful relationships, Dr. Joy Browne shares honest-to-goodness, true-life people and situations with you that will either make you feel right at home or that your own tragic stories pale in comparison to; and she gives you the specific step-by-step options to either continue to strive for true misery or opt for more sanity should you so choose.
She starts out with personal ads too frightening to be true—but they are; takes you along on doomed first dates into the hearts, closets, and messy kitchens of lonely singles everywhere; gives you ten—count ’em, ten—surefire ways to doom any date; and then looks into the future . . . to toxic dating and beyond.
The choice is yours: dating disasters . . . or how to avoid them.

The book goes through about 6, maybe 7 dating situations that went terribly wrong. This book is great because it keeps your attention because the situations are so hilarious, but you can clearly see how you could be in that position! The blind date one was hysterical. I didn't read this as much for the advice as for the stories. The advice was lacking I thought. (coming from a married man) I thought it kind of treated men as predatory and women as idiots, but it was quite entertaining. I could see a movie come out of this, but probably not a good relationship. There also isn't very much application you could use for your own life. It is more "here's what happened, don't let it happen to you" but worth the $20 for the laughs!
