Jesus, the Greatest Therapist Who Ever Lived by Mark W. Baker

Over one hundred years of modern psychology and we still haven't improved on the principles and lessons taught by the greatest doctor of the human soul—Jesus. In this accessible and eye-opening book, international bestselling author Dr. Mark Baker offers a refreshing and practical understanding of how the teachings of Jesus are not only compatible with the science of psychology, but still speak to our problems and struggles today. Filled with biblical quotations, real-life stories, and divided into two major sections, "Understanding People" and "Knowing Yourself," this easy-to-use guide reveals how the gospel continues to have the power to lighten the darkest corners of the human spirit.

As a devout Christian who desperately tries to live what he believes, this book speaks to me at my core. What makes this book and the "man" Jesus Christ so inspirational is that not only did he say these things, he was the 1st to say these things. Things that we see as cliche now, were just his everyday normal words then. The Golden Rule for example came straight from his mouth during a casual speech one day. So that is the biggest take-a-way from this book, while some only believe him to be a man, he said some amazingly inspired things. We see Oprah and some people like that as inspirational, but they aren't creating anything new, just rehashing what has been said and talked about for years. Jesus is the one and only, first and last and this book points STRAIGHT to that point. Excellent.
