The C Zone is characterized by commitment to work, by confidently taking risks without being overwhelmed, and by being in control-- prepared, skilled, and effective. Anyone can learn to bring these peaks of performance into their lives.
I actually bought this book to help deal with my anxiety and stress related to school. After reading a few pages, I realized this book seemed to be geared towards the typical, stressed-out office worker who sits in a cubicle from 9-5. Although this is far from me, I still found the book helpful for dealing with the small stresses that come from working two jobs and going to school at the same time. I loved it!
I am the type that will say yes to everyone and suffer the consequences silently and work myself out of a jam until I do it again the next week. Thats me normally. After this book I'm still that way, but I don't worry about failure as I did before. I think its 1 part insanity, 2 parts perfectionism, but my life style was very stressful. This book simultaneously removes the stress and makes you more productive by teaching you that the more work you do does not equal the the best work you CAN do. All too often people like me run around in circles and try to get EVERYTHING done, when the best thing we could do is stop, take inventory of who we are, where what we're doing will get us, and change focus to de-stress and re-evaluate our "do everything" mentality to a "do nothing but what is vital" mentality. That is the formula for success because you really stop stressing over things that don't matter! Great fun to read as well.
In a nut shell this is a great book on how to manage stress, the book is well written and provides examples on how to deal with tricky situations so that you can remain stress free. Great book, is good if you work in an environment such as a busy office, busy restaurant, or have demanding superiors then this book is for you. Once you apply the things that are written in this book correctly you will get mental clarity and be more able to focus on the tasks at hand. Situations that would normally make efficiency suffer can be defused and performance will go back to normal. Overall, great book, well written, the author has style when it comes to writing self help books which is always a plus since writing this type of book becomes second nature and has a specific audience to target. Highly recommend for people that constantly find themselves in a stressful environments or situations.
