Suze Orman writes in a way that is personable, entertaining and enlightening. She breaks things down very simply and explains to use the steps we must follow and why. A lot of people don't like her "psychology: of money but I personally love it and find a lot of it to be very useful.

It is great to be told exactly what and IRA, will, money market etc is, why we need one and how to get it or set it up.

A big plus for me personally was that this book made the mysterious world of investing much less mysterious. Suze Orman explains it very simply and very thoroughly.

This book gives you step-by-step lessons on what you need to do to take control of your finances. Like the prior reviewer, there is some psychology about money and your life and how you relate to it and I think this is one of the things critics have fault with when it comes to her lectures. I take the straightforward advice, take the psychology stuff with a grain of salt, and feel like I'm in good hands. I recommend this to anyone who has always wondered do I really need to write a will, what's a Living Will, what is an "Estate Trust" and why do I need one? And if you are married with kids you need to have all of the above, because essentially without it, the state takes control and takes almost half of your money to process your estate. Trust me on this one because I worked in the estate business...

Suze Orman's book The 9 Steps to Financial Freedom is a refreshing look at money. Orman puts hard to understand financial information into everyday, easy to follow advice. She does not come away preachy or holier than thou. She is very authoritative, but never in an unkind way. I went in not understanding anything about IRAs, and came away with a working knowledge of it. The information presented in this book is practical and useful. I did pick and choose certain elements from this book that I decided to follow, but I found all the information in it solid. Orman does dabble into the spiritual / psychological side of money, as in why you spend your money, and what it says about your self-worth. Feel free to overlook that part, because she's clearly not a psychologist, but it can be mildly entertaining. However, I was just reading for the advice about finances.
